To utilize fully the high resolution (480x640 pixels) of Toshiba e800 one must install 2 software programs made by enthusiasts. Unfortunately Toshiba does´t deliver such high resolution fix, that would allow all programs, also old programs, to use the high resolution! So we must resort to enthusiasts.
The first program, made by "Deez" is allowing all program to work in high resolution. The second program "UnDead" - removes "dead zone" problem - top left corner is not accessible in high resolution.
Here is the procedure:
first one needs to install Visual Basic runtimes (need for ResFix) from here. The file msvbppc.armv4.cab you should copy first to your hard disk in PC and then to /My Documents from which run it trough file explorer in the Toshiba e800.
then ResFix needs to be installed from here. You need to download it, unpack from ZIP file and run Setup.exe program. After setup you need to start this program - the ResFix - inside of your Toshiba e800 - and select "Swap to VGA" button. After pressing of this button the program will reboot the e800 and switch to high resolution. Please note: lately a commercial (not free) version of this program is available (version 2.0) - but you can still use version 1d that is free. Version 2.0 brings ability to rotate the screen to watch it in landscape mode!
