Mobius 2004 USA ( Möbius 2004 ) - list of participants

Page version: 4.

Mobius is an invite-only mobility-related conference where Microsoft is inviting people related to online publication of information about mobile devices (like cell phones and PDAs). Microsoft covers also costs of traveling and lodging and gives a bag full of gadgets as a gift. Some participants can opt out from it however, and they can pay for themselves (from the list below only Peter Rojas from Engadget.com did it). Mostly these people are just bloggers, who have a day job apart from their website, but among these people there are also professional journalists and publishers. The difference between the two categories - i.e. bloggers and professionals - is however sometimes a bit vague.

The main manager responsible for Mobius conference is Jason Gordon from Windows Mobile division of Microsoft. Jason, together with some other managers from Microsoft, is picking the people to be invited to Mobius conference. We have been chatting with Jason both in cyberspace and by phone and from these conversations our understanding is, that web traffic (number of visitors of given website) is not primary criterium of selection of participants for the Microsoft´s Mobius conference. In other words some websites with small (smaller than msmobiles.com) or tiny web traffic are also being invited because obviously some other criteria are at play. We wouldn´t like to dwell on it what exactly these critera are. For now please note: apparently geographical location played some role in the selection process, so we outline it in this list too.
