Short Message Service. Term "SMS" denotes a unit of short text being sent among GSM cell phones. This unit has 160 characters and is charged per 160 characters (or less). Nowadays cell phone are concatenating SMS messages if users enters more than 160 characters and the message arrives as one to the receiver, but sender still pays (number of characters)/160*(price of one SMS) for such transmission.
