Opera company offers Opera Mobile 9.5 now only to manufacturers to embed into handsets - the version for end customers is not available yet and it is unknown when it is coming.
In HTC Touch Diamond the Opera Mobi...

Maybe those guys should consider buying a camera with a proper macro mode before recording any more videos.
Is Opera 9.5 awesome? I have no idea, because all I saw in that video was a big blur.
I use an older version of Opera on my WM phone, and it's definitely the best browser on this platform, but that's not saying much. |

I have Opera Mobile 8.65 running on my HTC TyTn II which supports flash. What about Opera 9.5 on the Diamond?? Does it support Flash.
Thanks in advance |

Do you HAVE to mention the iPhone every time you post about the Diamond?
Just post the facts and let people decide for themselves.. jeez. |

Seconded.
MSMobiles: I challenge you to go a whole week without once mentioning the iPhone in any way. Bet you can't do it. |

Opera Mobile 9.5 supports Flash in general as you can hear in video-interview with CEO of Opera that I did here:
http://www.msmobiles.com/news.php/7114.html
However this support is such: if there is Flash installed in given phone then Opera Mobile 9.5 supports it, if not then not - it is not bundled with Opera Mobile 9.5.
In HTC Touch Diamond there is no Flash so no Flash in Opera too.
Regarding mentioning iPhone or not: good advice, thank you! |

| Quote: | | and also it is impossible to set agent of the Opera to pretend some other browser - like it is in NetFront |
Actually you can change the user agent in Opera Mobile 9.5
In the address bar, type in
about:config
scroll down on the page to item User Agent and click on it.
It says Spoof user agent ID
1 is obviously Opera Mobile 9.5
2 is firefox
3 is desktop IE 6
Save and bob's your uncle. I would like to see Safari do this.

Well, all well and good, but how about getting this damn app out to the millions of people who already have WM devices! I don't wan't to load the various betas out there since I don't want to corrupt my existing Opera 8.6 install.
All in the meanwhile....using NetFront..... _________________ JNGold

well, in fact it is "opera:config" that user needs to enter to enter the secret configuration menu and indeed one can set there user agent but unfortunately you cannot set anything you want and one very important spoof is missing: Internet Explorer Mobile cannot be faked and it is vital because Google applications recognize it and show special mobile versions of their services! See also podcast 232 from http://podcasts.msmobiles.com where Mickey says that he does not like Opera because he cannot use those special mobile pages of Google. If Opera could fake Internet Explorer mobile then it would be perfect!

sorry but business is more important for Opera than sentiments: Opera wants to coerce manufactures into embedding their browser into their phones and if they would sell their 9.5 browser to everybody then manufacturers would be not so happy to embed it into their phones.
I also dont like it, but what we can do?
NetFront is fantastic but unfortunatley that fluent zooming with the wheel inside of HTC Touch Diamond is so good that NetFront can't beat it. |

EJR,
You have a 780 in your avatar, so I take it you use one.
What's your opinion of it? Pros/cons? And how's that d-pad?
It's OT, but I've yet to read a good review of it and I haven't read any user opinions yet. _________________ Palm Vx -> Palm 505 -> Dell Axim -> Palm TE -> Qtek 9090 -> Nokia 6630 -> iMate SP3i -> Nokia 9300 -> Treo 650 -> hw6915 -> Nokia E51 -> Touch Enhanced |

It might be true that Opera 9.5 is much better (featurewise) than Safari on the iPhone. But you seem to forget how easy and comfortable it is to browse the web on the georgeous iPhone-display.
I had an HTC Touch Diamond for 1.5 weeks now and I did not enjoy browsing the web at all on it...even though it has a brilliant VGA-display! The display itself is simply too small and I still prefer the iPhone for tasks such as browsing the web and / or listening to music / watching vids / movies.
I did not like the controls of Opera 9.5 at all....compared to Safari.
Sure, the Touch Diamond is much better (again: featurewise) than the iPhone but for me the winner is still the iPhone. At least for me....going to work by train and loving to listen to music, watch movies, do some messaging or browse the web . |

Whether the one form factor is better than the other for browsing does not negate the fact that the browser is better. The Samsung Omnia for example also runs Opera Mobile, but with a much bigger screen.

Opera Mobile 9.5 doesn't support keyboard navigation. They need to make a different version that's usable with Windows Mobile hardware buttons. At least I hope that's the reason they haven't released it to the public. |

My friends let me try both their iPhone and Touch Diamond to play for a while. I have to say the higher resolution of Touch Diamond render the page sharper and easier for my eye. I quite enjoy using it to serve the web. _________________ Proud owner of HTC Touch Diamond and i-mate JASJAM. |

I'm not so sure about that. If you look at the configuration file input.ini in the opera directory, there seems to be a huge number of keyboard options.
