Today a HTC HD2 launch event took place in Taipei, Taiwan - i.e. not in London as usually but in global headquarters of HTC. It looks like Steve Ballmer - CEO of Microsoft - was there too and he even praised "multi...

90% of CONSUMERS never update their phone. Years ago, there was a good read about that fact online.
yes, the tech junkies do it, they even visit xda devs to get to the cutting edge. But from the hundres of thousands of phones sold of each type, only a fraction does it. It is not important for the overall sales of this product, really.

it would be nice for the techies, but consumers don't care. The reason it is done on the iPhone, is because it happens automatically, and people are informed of the update proactively by means of iTunes. But it is not that easy with WM devices.

Won't happen I guess, and even if, it is only relevant for you, me, and the other freaks, not for the majority of customers.

.

bullsh*t! majority of iPhone users update their phone because the update comes through iTunes on PC or Mac - the same way they put music and videos on their iPhone.

please, don't lie, OK?

have you even read my WHOLE post? also the last paragraph?
if you call me a liar again, I crawl through the wire and smack you.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lie

Quote:
A lie (also called prevarication) is a type of deception in the form of an untruthful statement, especially with the intention to deceive others, often with the further intention to maintain a secret or reputation, protect someone's feelings or to avoid a punishment.

can you read that, Edward, you freak?
All the time you talk about somebody who LIES. You are saying that others try to deceive others, and this is a big accusation. Try to follow these steps, from now on:

1. READ
2. THINK ABOUT IT
3. write a post
4. read it again, think about it
5. press the SUBMIT button

I think this 5 steps would be too complicated. Try to cut it to 3! Somethimg like:
- Read
- Think
- Respond

so how would you call your statement that was not true, but was not intentional?

it is absolute truth that most iphone and ipod touch users upgrade it to new version - as this upgrade is very easy and part of their usually usage of itunes - clearly you didn't say the truth that most mobile phone users don't upgrade

thats what I said, read again.
It would be a lie if I knew the truth, but tried to deceive you or others.

the iPhone is popular, but by no means are 80% or even 100% of the iPhone users the MAJORITY of consumers.
And I especially stated that the iPhone is an exception, and given an explanation for it.

it is not a lie, it is just a different point of view, if you even know about that concept.
even if it was wrong (and it isn't, at least not by what I wanted to say), it would not necessarily be a lie (why should I lie about something like phones!?!), it could just be a mistake, without cruel intentions. Or a lack of information.

you always assume somebody lies, instead of reflecting the statement, and wondering if YOU may be wrong, or if we BOTH are right, but just view the topic from different viewpoints.

Did you choose to ignore the last paragraph of his post or did you fail to read or understand it?

Cite! If it's absolute truth, you must surely be able to prove it objectively. Please think about my words and yours before responding.

I have no data on this, but of the 20 or so mobile telephones I've had, I've upgraded firmware/OS on five of them. I personally know (as in have met) only two people whom I know to have upgraded the OS on their telephone and know for certain at least ten people who haven't and suspect at least 95% of the mobile telephone users I know have never done so either. For mobile telephones as a whole and, I suspect, for smartphones, this activity is UNUSUAL. I neither know nor care about the iPhone but I'm pretty sure iPhones don't consitute the majority of mobiles, even if their owners make more noise than the rest put together

That is damn funny...EJR trying to actually call someone out for lying. When 1/2 the sh*t that actually comes out of his head is flat out fabrications. And the other 1/2 may be true...because...well, someone else said it already and he likes to repeat the obvious.

Always entertaining though...bravo!
