Here comes yet another article from Suzanne Ross, whose sole qualification is being "fond of her two laptops, two desktops, and a Windows Mobile-based Smartphone and Pocket PC". This time she writes about HP iPAQ ...

I don't expect this comment to survive long but can I just comment that almost every article on this site these days has a negative and insulting slant to it.
Being healthly cynical about press releases etc is a good thing but your continual sarcastic, rude and just plain negative slant on every post makes you sound like a sulky teenager.
It seems that whilst you continue to be interested in mobile comms and technology, your passing over as a Microsoft MVP has turned you into a bitter immature person whose only satifaction seems to be in putting other people and companies down to make yourself look big and clever
All very tedious.....
News is good, objectivity is good, but the tone of the articles here is just annoying, immature and partisan to the point of making the actual news in each article lose any credability.
Shame really - this used to be a good and informative site...... |

I agree with Nymawae. Why did you have to say that? If I look at your About Us page, I don't see any qualifications listed other than that you've run this Web site for about three years. Pot, meet kettle.
I would highly recommend listing the qualifications of the staff of the site on the About Us page (see the pocketnow About Us page for an example, which has pictures and mini-biographies of the contributors). Until you do, criticizing others' qualifications is just hypocritical. Of course, criticizing their qualifications any time is kind of petty. If their point is valid, why do their qualifications matter? If they say something wrong, just say why you think they're wrong without making the personal comments.
If this were an isolated instance, it wouldn't be a big deal, but this has been going on for a long time. If you want to be treated seriously, consider a more professional approach. You get great news -- now be a great journalist.

impossible, I will always be only a tabloid journalist.
But thanks for remarks, I will try to avoid such tone whenever it is not necessary. |

BUT THAT IS THE POINT even as a tabloid journalist, one should never scrape the bottom of the barrel....as no one takes you seriously any more.
A while ago this was a good site...with good well balanced information..seems that the approach has turned to GUTTER journalism.
In the mean time this whole site has reduced its self to at best a BLOGG site, with little or no respect for facts or credibility, or did you not notice how many people have commented on you slanted approach, I do not believe that these are attacks on you personally, but as far as I am concerned its because I would hate for this site to be seen as a personal rant and rave...which would be a real shame.. |

outdated OS where ...the imate JAM is still shipping with this OS and M$ is quite happy to get a license fee for every one shipped...did I miss something or did M$ stop supporting this OS...as that would be the only way to officially call it OUT DATED ...unless this is your personal view...which whilst your are entitled to have is factually wrong !!! |

First, nobody said he had to kiss ass. Nobody said he shouldn't be critical of manufacturers. We have suggested that the criticism be professional, not attacking people. What's wrong with that?
Second, in case you can't read my signature for some reason, I do have my own Pocket PC Web site.

Didn't you read my first post in this thread? I thought I spelled things out pretty clearly there, but let me refresh your memory.

What's the point of the comment about qualifications? As I mentioned, the About Us page for this site doesn't give any qualifications, either. While that's just a minor example, search for the comments about Microsoft MVPs if you want some blatant examples.
Letting people know this Pocket PC is not running the latest operating system is good. Saying that people shouldn't buy it for that reason is OK, but that doesn't mean it won't meet the needs of many users. After all, how many Pocket PC phones with GPS are there? Maybe two (including this one).
