Not only Microsoft has removed good old features like ActiveSync over Wi-Fi from the new ActiveSync, but also added some new errors. Anyway: if you have a Windows Mobile 5.0 phone then you have no choice: you have t...

Seems strange to thin that you believe that MS especially introduced errors...(your wording not mine)
but then again I use AS 4.1 and not 4.0 because 4.0 is OBSOLETE SO DONT BUY ANY PRODUCT with AS3.8 OR AS4.0.... AS THEY ARE NOT WORTH BUYING !!! |

NoBackUp:
Don't know how you get your pre-released ActiveSync 4.1. But someone has violated their NDA with Microsoft here if ActiveSync 4.1 does exist.
Whenever a new version of ActiveSync is formally released from Microosft. They always put it on the web for everybody to download. There should not be any issue if you get earlier ActiveSync with the device you purcased. |

Sorry but NO NDA violations here as not details released and any way look in www.xda-developers.com and search...ergo already in the "PUBLIC DOMAIN" and not "PULLED" by M$...or try Google !!!

I agree: xda-developers is the best website about HTC made phones in the known universe! I love this website. |

I had also stability problems with the AS4.0 given with the QTEK 9100,but no reset from my computer, only USB problems..
Now the last AS release I know and I use is AS 4.1 build 4087.. They improved USB speed and stability, and added the feature to sync the photo contact with an Outlook XP or 2003 and WM5..
I don't know why it is not on Microsoft's site.. even the 4.0 is not on their site since for them, the lastest version is always 3.8.. Microsoft is talking about ActiveSync 4.0 but they don't give it.. They only propose the ActiveSync 4.0 Developer Preview.. strange... Also, it seems that they remove sync over Wifi because they had problems with WM5.. so the "final" relase of 4.0 and/or 4.1 may still be a beta !! to many problems to fix and they know it !! I have at home a known issues for the 4.1 build 4087, and they are still working on it.. maybe the real final and fully operational version will be 4.5 |

i use activesync 4.0 with my htc apache...3.8 will not work with WM5 -
the only issue i have now is a data syncing issue caused by a windows update...
discussed here:
http://www.pdaphonehome.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=58170&highlight=activesync
syncing with wifi would be nice, but i think it will be added later...hopefully...microsoft said they removed it because of security concerns so who knows how long it will take them to make it secure.

| I use AS4.1 with my PDA2K and I agree that it is a crap. But I wonder what your headline might have been if this grave error were to be committed by symbian. You will probably describe it as further evidence of symbian's inferiority to M$. |
