It looks like apart from stubborn Orange UK almost all operators will be selling HTC Wizard Pocket PC phone branded by themselves...
The Vodafone version is called "Vodafone VPA compact II" and looks a bit diff...

That's in germany, not necessarily the UK. Don't assume it will come to the UK, Voda in germany has been selling PPC phones and PDA for a while. In the UK, we only got a the Qtec 2020i -the non-branded version of the XdaIIi and TMobile MDAII.
Orange UK has been selling many more PPC phones and PDAs -and different versions of these- than Vodafone ever has. |

As for your comment on the "lie" regarding wifi on-board the Wizard, here too maybe you should not jump too quickly and mention strong words like "lie".
It was reported last week in another forum - look at the wizard section of Modaco's or xda-developers's - that TMobile had disabled wifi 802.11g. This follows the phone call of one TMobile's vario user to TMobile Customer service who enquired about the lack of wifi 802.11g. And that's what he was told.
So whether it is, as you say a lie from the manufacturer, or a decision that originates from those who subsididse the phone to the point of selling it for free, remains to be seen. |

sorry but I don't believe in this "T-Mobile has disabled 802.11g" story. I believe that HTC Wizard simply doesn't support 802.11g at all. |

So you are saying that Expansys are incorrectly advertising the Wizard as having wi-fi "g" ??
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=126380
Surely Expansys would have amended this by now if it was incorrect??
Whilst Orange UK will def not be stocking the HTC Wizard I think there is now some doubt over O2 UK's position. The phone was slotted for release and now O2 say it has removed from future release schedules and they can't say for certain that it will get a release in the UK. |

yes, I am saying that Expansys and others that claim that any HTC Wizard, including i-mate K-JAM, has 802.11g ... are liars. |

Expansys also have the E-Ten M600 listed as "WiFi 802.11b/g" and according the E-Ten's website, the M600 only supports "WiFiŽ IEEE802.11b"
Expansys make mistakes like this all the time. |

So, is that the difference between Wizard 100 and 200 devices? I always thought it was just cosmetic, but the 200 series has 128MB of ROM and these specs say 64MB of ROM. _________________ Bubble Buster Advanced

in reference to your earlier commenT:
"sorry but I don't believe in this "T-Mobile has disabled 802.11g" story. I believe that HTC Wizard simply doesn't support 802.11g at all."
There is no point in saying this if you can't justify it. Another post of yours on another topic attracted a similar comment from a reader like me, that is to "verify the facts because you write".
I would say the same things here. Although your site is good, there is no much point in writing about unverified facts.
if you think expansys et al. are lying, show us the proof. And stop saying "I don't believe in it, so there it is: they're liars". Afterall, doing a little bit of research is a pre-requesite to fact-writing. Unfortunately your site does not contain facts, but rumours and opinions which are only good as long as you can justify them. By not doing so, you just reduce the credibility of your site, and as you know, there are lots of specialised Windows Mobile- related websites that are competing for readers' attention.
Don't be foolish! |

I'm sure that Wizard can support 802.11g because the TI Wireless Lan
chipset "TNETW1250" wizard used did support 802.11g.
But this chipset is very new and HTC wizard is the first window mobile
device that use this chipset. I guess maybe it's because they still
have some bugs on 802.11g so in current version they didn't support it.
But once those bugs are fixed, it will support 802.11g unless they can't
fix the bug forever. |

| So what's up with those people who put their WiFi routers into 802.11g only mode and then connected their Wizard Pocket PCs to those with no problems? |

I-mate advertise the wizard as having wifi g.
http://www.imate.com/DETAILS_KJAM.htm
Is there anyone here who has a wizard who can verify if this is correct.
I have also seen on this site claims that winodws mobile 5 supports push email when infact it doesn't.
http://www.techworld.com/mobility/features/index.cfm?FeatureID=1431
The features WM5 actually provides is wireless syncing and not quite the push email service Blackberry povide. However I also heard there will be an update to WM5 first quarter 2006 to fix this. |

exactly this is the point: everybody who has HTC Wizard told me that it has no 802.11g, just 802.11b. |
