This is fantastic news! We never are shy to criticize Microsoft or any other company but here really Microsoft "gets it".

The push e-mail component for Windows Mobile 5.0 has been delayed and it will be release...

Great news but if it comes as a ROM update, does that mean that it will need a full ROM Update/Hard Reset/Reinstall ?

Or just a nice little software patch ?

Yeah microsoft gets it alrite. Its almost laughable that I have a Qtek 9090 with PPC 2003 SE already running with A2DP. There is an update available to enable the widcomm bluetooth stack. Microsoft have been shipping the worst implemention of a bluetooth stack I ever had the mispleasure to use and now your saying they "get it" because their new OS will have an update to support A2DP when I have already a device with PPC 2003 SE already with A2DP.

Most microsoft powered smartphones and pdas which support bluetooth 1.2 or greater have the hardware for A2DP. This includes all the new WM5 devices. If you are lucky enough to have a microsoft powered devce that has the widcomm bluetooth stack and bluetooth 1.2 you can have A2DP now by installing the widcomm BT update. This rules out all devices with the smartphone OS and clearly shows the limitations with microsofts bluetooth stack implementation. I have a windows mobile 5 device now for a month and despite what this site says if I was purchasing a device for personal use I would hold of until these updates are availble and come on the device. Otherwise it could take further months for updates for certain service providers to become available. Also there is not so much good windows mobile 5 software availble at the minute.

I understand this, but average users really don't give a toss about all the "geeky" reasons, they just want the support there.

Microsoft is so complacent, when they finally do care about being on the cutting edge they will gain some market share.

Push email is not a 'geeky' reason at all, its actually a very usefull feature especially for network admins. NTP in Februarysettled for 450 million dollars with RIM who provide that blackberry solution push email patent infringements, a fee that Microsoft also will have to pay. Push email and many other similar services that blackberry and now Microsoft etc hope to provide are big business. Push email is an attempt by Microsoft to put windows mobile 5 as a serious business tool.
