This device may change the way we look at notebooks, BlackBerries, Pocket PCs and Smartphones, and many other mobile devices as a whole:

yes but I am a little bit worried that although it runs Tablet PC OS, it doesn't have digitizer on the screen! I have Tablet PC and I know that digitizer has 10000 bigger precision than touch screen... so this is the only serious doubt that I have about this device.
would you spend 1500 USD on this device? |

while this would be a fun device...i really think they are just in "no man's land" for computing...
i feel that a pc/laptop has its place, and a pocket pc phone has it's place as well...
this device is too large to carry in your pocket...which makes it more of a small laptop with a phone in it than a phone with a computer in it...
it is very expensive...you could buy a laptop AND a pocketpc phone instead...
as far as i can tell, they don't have keyboards? tabletpc is great but sometimes keyboard is necessary! i didn't read anywhere whether or not it has EVDO/UMTS/EDGE or even wifi...those would be important factors as well.
i'd much rather focus on improving the functionality, hardware, battery life and software of pocketpc phones instead of trying to make them into full fledged computers.
i'm just really happy with my apache as a "converged" device...it does so much and has so many features...and if i REALLY need a computer's functionality, i can honestly use logmein.com or some other vnc solution to take control of my computer from my phone's screen and do whatever i need to do...
the key is that the apache does all this and fits in my pocket and works well as a phone...so i want a better apache, not a small laptop with a phone in it.
just my two cents,
-jeff |
