Hard to say without someone trying it. The dual-core 200 MHz OMAP processor is very efficient (and comparable in performance to a 400 MHz ARM), but I'm not sure how Skype uses clock cycles in the CPU.
It looks like it may NOT work on the Treo 700W. The 700W will not have internal wifi and external wifi requires at least 400 Mhz to work (according to their release notes). Ironically, their system requirements doesn't mention it working with EVDO although UMTS is singled out. BTW, Skype does work with EVDO. |

yes, some people were reporting that with echo cancellation option switched off, Skype runs in HTC Wizard - albeit the voice quality may be lower and you must close all other applications when you use Skype. |

Perhaps if skype came up with something that actually works right on WM2005 devices (such as the universal) then I might take them seriously.
Current versions are far too unreliable on my universal + txt chat still does not work correctly.
Shame also that they dont push the video side of skype for PPC's as well - I suspect many more WM2005 devices that follow the universal will also have video phone cameras.

Skype has never worked reliably on my Magician.
The latest (low processor) version isn't really much better and i find it impossible to hold a conversation that doesn't break up all the time.
It was fine on my Wizard with wireless card.
My phone is the Qtec 9100 and I have no encryption on my wireless network(jus MAC filtering). |
