Unfortunately it doesn't have a display ...

it doesn't have digitizer though (their competition OQO - has one) but if somebody is not drawing then it may be OK |

so,.. what's a digitiser do that a touch screen doesnt? is that just the fancy induction "you can't use it with your fingernail" feature,.. or is it more than that?
BTW does anyone know if the USB ports are accessible while in windows mobile mode? or just from XP? If so I think I'm in love, a PDA with 12 hours battery life, a decent sized touch screen, a 40Gb HDD AND USB2 host! |

| digitizer gives resolution many times higher than that of touch screen. In other words: touch screen is not good enough for drawing but digitizer is. Digitzer brings not only higher resolution but also several pressure grades. |

I find it odd that someone would buy a Dualcor (or OQO) sized computer and need a digitizer. Digitizers are for larger screens (or pads) where you want to take advantage of broader strokes and varying pressures. A little 5 inch display won't have much use for it. Also, the 1GHz Crusoe processor in the OQO will get overwhelmed by the digitizer just like it did with the Compaq TC-1000 (at least Dualcor is using a faster processor). Finally, digitizer power requirements are significantly higher than touch screens - power requirements these little devices can't afford. I'm glad to see the Dualcor folks didn't fall for all that digitizer hype on a system that has no need for it. |

You guys are lucky. You live in the US. Imagine how long it will take for the cPC to roll out here in the Philippines.
I've been observing and researching on the cPC since last month. I love the product although if it lacks wi-fi and bluetooth, a lot including me will be disappointed.
All-in-all, I give this product
an 8 for innovation (still lacks some critical technical info for a better rating).
a 9 for size (great size for such a powerful computer although too big for a phone.) (the size is almost like a hybrid of Nokia 9210's length and HTC Universal's width)
a 7 for physical beauty (it's too simple and robust) (only a handful of ladies will find it beautiful enough to voluntarily use it except maybe if the lady loves gadgets. )
another 7 for connectivity (the USB, Mini VGA port and TypeII CF Card slot makes it even more powerful than any PPC yet at par with any other tablet PC) (with regard to wi-fi and bluetooth, I guess my rating will go up to 9 if these two functions are present.)
Although I don't have the slightest idea how it feels using the cPC, with the specifications mentioned in all the reviews, press releases and in the website, I could say that this is the phone/PDA that I have been waiting for. I wouldn't think twice in buying one anytime to replace both my XDA 2 and my laptop. |

Well I have been watching the uPC market now for a year. Things are starting to happen. The DualCor cPC looks like it is going to be what I want.
I started alone time ago on the Newton and when though 3 or 4 of them. Then I moved to the Palm and when through a few versions of those. I gave up on PDA as I needed a 800 by whatever screen so I could browse the Web. I considered teh iQAP with thurderbird that give you a 640x480 but didn't go for it as it just wasn't what I wanted.
I tried the ViewSonic 1000 table and that was not it either. To big.
Looks like things are coming around now.
What I want is a small tablet that does the following.
1. 800x480 or better
2. Instance turn on.
3. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GSM Express, and RJ45 connections.
4. GSM quad-band cell.
5. mp3 player.
6. usb for fold up keyboard.
7. replaceable 12hr use battery.
8. $999US or less.
I have looked at the u50, the 770, the OQO, and the 2nd gen Dualcor uPC is looking like what I will be going with.
Any feedback or help would be good.
