This is one of those rare times when the "Windows user experience" is assumed to be a good thing. Mostly the WM5 UI is good, but it's nothing like using Winodows. Will Windows Mobile 2007 include the Blue Screen Of Death? Will they be keeping the need to hack around with the registry (registry! in a phone!) just to get the phone to behave properly? (flamers will start saying "at least you CAN", but why HAVE TO?)

The WM5 user experience has improved, but only where MS have made it LESS like Windows. Those soft buttons at the bottom of the screen are a good example.

The rest of the logic is also off-center. It says that Nokia plans to replace Symbian with something Linux-based. Therefore, Simbian will disappear, which means Windows Mobile will take it's place! Erm, so what's happening with the Lunux-based replacement for Symbian? Isn't THAT going to take the place of Symbian?

Don't get me wrong, I like the WM5 devices coming out now. I LOVE how the Smartphones are smaller than the PalmOS alternatives (& competition is good for everyone, too). I just don't see the logic in the article.

And would somebody PLEASE write Vindigo for WM5 Smartphones, already? Very Happy
