HTC Star Trek has QVGA (320x240) - as all contemporary MS Smartphone phones from HTC.

Regarding P305: it was presented shortly by Steve Ballmer at 3GSM 2006 but at CeBIT 2006 neither Microsoft nor Asus were showing it... so it may be yet another Asus vaporware. Remember also that P305 is very thick compared to HTC Star Trek.

Wow - I knew msmobiles was ignorant on more or less every level (especially on the merits of journalism), but I had no idea that homophobia was part of your remit as well. Perhaps you could explain exactly how white earphones "look gay", how one could be mistaken for a homosexual by wearing white headphones, and why you feel that being mistaken for gay by wearing white headphones is something that needs to be avoided?

It really is little wonder that you're constantly passed over for MVP status. It's not because Microsoft dislikes your "tell it like it is" approach. It's because you come out with ignorant bigoted comments like that, in addition to your penchant for exaggerating anything which you find to be questionable out of all proportion, picking on Microsoft employees, making unfounded allegations about Microsoft employees and drawing tenuous, illogical and false conclusions from available information to try and create a "story" out of nothing.

thats my personal point of view, like i wrote it. it doesn't say anything against anything or so - except that i don't like white earphones. if you like them, keep them. this is simple street talk, used by those who buy gadgets not because of the colour or a stylish brand, but for its features. otherwise windows mobile would have no clients at all, since the STAR100 is the first device with this os that anyone in the world may be willing to buy for its look and feel.

on the other hand you are right and i will edit the passage. sometimes i am just a little childish!

best regards, lutz

ps: i as person can live superbe without being mvp or what ever you call it (i call it microsoft brown noser Smile), but i know at least a hand full of these guys and some of them are smart but stucked in the system of the big microsoft machinery.

thelondonthing, stop splitting the hair and inventing something that is not in this review! In this review you can find several unique and interesting photos of HTC Star Trek - both stand alone and compared with other devices. And this is by no means "available information" because this phone is not on the market yet, so on both counts you are again completely wrong, thelondonthing! Do you have any questions or insights about the phone at hand - HTC Star Trek - or are you just moaning again because you are not able to utter anything on topic?

Anyway: if somebody has questions regarding the phone - HTC Star Trek that is, then feel free to ask but if you feel like whining, then go elsewhere!l

I think that this review is a good piece of work and we should be grateful to Lutz instead of attacking him.

Well it wasn't a "review", was it? It was a gallery with a couple of comments thrown in. Loads of fantastic photos, but let's not pretend it was anything more than that. And I didn't suggest that this thread was drawing false conclusions or creating a story out of nothing - that part of my commentary was very clearly part of a general observation about msmobiles.com, and I have on many occasions proved this to be the case, as have many more of your visitors.

Incidentally, I note that you have glossed over the main point that I was making - as you always do. You always ignore the real points that people make and pick on the least relevant point, and try to turn it against the poster, while failing to address the valid points that were made.

My point was that I don't think it's in particularly good taste to refer to white earphones as "gay", regardless of whether it's street slang or not. In some parts of society, it's common to call black people "niggers", but it would not be acceptable for me to suggest that wearing gold jewellery would make somebody look like a nigger. That would be extremely distasteful.

Similarly, I don't see why it should be acceptable to use "gay" as a derogatory term for something that the 'reviewer' doesn't personally like.

I'm very happy to acknowledge however that the collection of photos was excellent and Lutzh is to be commended for bringing them all together, and for spending his time and effort on it.

couldn't agree more, on all counts.

no offence lutzh but you can't call a few pics and some comments a review. Nor can you expect to be taken seriously if you're going to go round saying things like the earphones are "gay".

msmobiles_wiseacre, this is not the only "review" of the the star trek and i know a couple of people that already have this device and others that haven't been publically released yet so don't go making out that you and your staff are special for having it.

Smile

remember, guys, we're just talking about a phone. nothing else. i would never start any discussion about black people nor any sexual orientation just because i am shooting pictures of a mobile. like i said in the review - and it was indeed ment as said: the bad guys get the nice phones. all others can easily stick with the white ear buds.

best regards, lutz

ps: nedge, we know each other quite well fom modaco. i called this nothing, not a review or anything. if you want to take me seriousely then please let me know exactly what that means! i just have my fun. join me with it or not!

Oh boy that is an ugly phone! Having something like that would make your street-cred plummet so low that people would pretend you don't exist - I suppose at least then you wouldn't have to worry about your sexuality coming into question over the headphones.

Howdy,

Well done on this, excellent scoop. Nice to see some very good shots of this and the video adds too.

But, you might want to remove the background music which is copyrighted to the original artist and used I expect, without permission. Also, the phone in the video when turned on would give first time viewers the impression that it takes forever to boot, rather than show it from soft-reset, you could just power on to show it's instant.

Finally, someone somewhere broke an NDA on this, as the phone shows it's running a test ROM which would not be for general discussion.

Cheerio

it's a question of taste obviously!

Thanks to Lutz that has done it again!. My usual lackluster home magazine in the country where I live also had an article about the Star-Trek you can read it here, http://mobil.mkf.se/ArticlePages/200604/08/20060408230350_MOB120/20060408230350_MOB120.dbp.asp
(even if you don't understand the language you get the gist of it - nothing!)

It only makes you angry and hungry for information.

Then you come with these excellent pictures! Bravo! What should I do without msmobiles.com? And the article of the 500 000 phoned to US Census bureau got me a nice order too. Not a word in any newspaper or computer magazine here in Stockholm - only a lot of lies and xxx talk about Microsoft.

For many years I have defended MS from the abundance of religious open-source fanatics, I love to be the single (well - almost) guy that was right against the mob! Smile

You are my hero. And the picture of yourself with the cigarette in the corner of the mouth! So right. So wonderfully non political correct.

Keep on the good work!
