We were the first to publish review of HP iPAQ RW6828 Pocket PC phone:

... and now it is already on sale, albeit in Asia only:

I just pray that they've improved the looks of the Breeze. I've never seen such an ugly beast of a phone. It looks like seperate chunks of it were designed in different departments who never spoke to each other, and the whole design was then put together at the last minute.

A very disappointing effort for the first Windows Mobile 3G smartphone.

It is finally here. Are they including Australia in the Asia launch like O2 did with the Atom? If so, itwon't be long before they are on ebay for sale!!! Can't wait.

I am really interested in this device. Has there been any confirmation that it really will be available worldwide (in particular to the UK)?

All the info I have read (including HP's spec sheet) says AP (Asia Pacific) only:

I have emailed HP twice with this question, the first time they had no idea what the device was and suggested buying it off of ebay when it was released!!
Quote:
I had a look at this model on various Asian tech sites. It looks like this was designed for the Asian market only (it looks good indeed) with no plansn to release here. Its either the iPAQ hw6510 or hw6515.
There is a possibility you could get it imported. Amazon or E-bay?

After a reply I was then emailed with;
Quote:
I have been advised this model wont be released in the UK.

The second email said that the sales team had not be briefed about the device and so they cannot make any confirmation about releasing the device.
Quote:
This device is not current in the UK and has not been briefed to the Sales team so we are not able to comment at this time.

I don't think they are very sure for themseleves but I hope it is released sometime this year.[/code]

So you care that msmobile is first? Tell me, why is it so important? For me, it's much more important what the content of the news is and is it realiable and not colored by the editors stupid opinions. So you must be one of those who shout "my Windows Mobile is best, Symbian sucks! I have the best toys in town." Oh yee...

Relax, nobody is shouting Very Happy Please don't put work into my mouth. For me there is not one superior operating system. I can look things objectively, unlike the editor here.

let me describe msmobiles.com IN MY OWN WORDS: if there wouldn't be someone playing the loudspeaker the technology would still stuck somewhere in between 1999 and 2001. when htc released the first devices with a phone stack (eg. spv classic, htc magican) there were several bugs that were fixed by freaks and communities that did care. no microsoft cared, no htc, no carrier. only because some news sites like this one were speaking up loud and clearly someone startet to move his a$$ at all at the departments i've mentioned before. so it is good to have someone who speaks up - at least in my little world.

and i see no real trouble in words like "as seen here first" - wouldn't you be proud if you discovered something first and published an information that you've had exclusively? in this case - the pictures of the HP iPAQ RW6828 - i am proud that i am the one who got those pictures first, exclusively and before anyone even wanted to let the world know about that device at all! i am writing on msmobiles.com from time to time just out of fun, you can recognize my work, because i am using my alias in every story i am writing. and even if i agree in some points that msmobiles.com is sometime shouting louder than it would need too - i refer to what i wrote above...

cheers, lutz

So that nobody can think I'm some kind of pervertic: "words" not "work" Wink

How do you know this? Big companies do not always behave like you would expect them to do. Sometimes it seems they are doing nothing when there are things we don't know or they really are working day and night to fix the bug, which may seemso trivial to us. And do you really believe msmobiles has any influence to HTC or Microsoft?

Do you read Engadget? It's really good journalism and usually information about new WM phones can be found there sooner than here. Sometimes msmobile may publish something hours before Engadget, but also many times msmobiles publishes news couple of days after Engadget.

I don't really care if the news is not published in the same day the new information has appeared in the FCC or SlashPhone. I just expect the information to be correct and no conclusions like "this proves Windows Mobile to beat Symbian anytime" to be added. Also I like to read about release for other phone platforms like Symbian and Palm in the same forum.

Why can't msmobiles publish a new application without the words "Nothing like this exists for Symbian". If someone runned a symbianmobiles.com they could probably say many times that about Windows Mobile. But people who have good self-esteem don't need that kind of comments, which only prove the editor to have a very black and white view of the world.

that device at all! i am writing on msmobiles.com from time to time just out of fun

OK. That explains a lot Wink

pretty much like you've said before - for non-commented news you better go to sites like engadget & co! but be aware - some of those sites are driven by guys that are at least mvp's (not suv's Wink). that are the guys that microsoft has placed around itself as a barrier between ms and (loud) costumers (like me). they are signing nda's, and for the price of being (as i would call it) slaved by the big one they are invited to the campus and other little gooddies. and don't think a) i don't know or b) i am jealouse at all. i have a good job in a good company and enough money to sponsor myself and buy the gadgets that i like. but if i buy them and see that they are crappy - i talk about it, not behind closed doors but e.g. here.

you ask how i would know what ms, htc or the carriers do? let me answer it like this: a) i have a brilliant network - even to those companies i am talking about here. if you need a proof checkout the link below to open bc and find out, how much of my direct contacts work for ms, htc or responsable carriers in europe. and b) i am taking care in windows mobile now for ages. not only here, but because of the fact that i am from germany/europe my name is well known in most of the common windows mobile communities (hopefully not only because i am speaking a little louder Wink).

and now i tell you why i've answered to your post at all: some people come around here with bashing and blaming behaviour saying msmobiles is evel, too loud and dumb. the trouble is, that most of the people saying that do it in the exact same stupid way! you think that is very grown up? you think it changes anything? you think that - e.g. me sits at home because of an reply like that crying and thinking "ok, he's right, i'll change"? you surely don't. and thats why i say save your energy! if you don't like this place, don't come here. see, i don't know you - as well as you don't know me, so how would we ever find the right way to do it or how would you be able to understand my/someone elses thinking and behaviour?

anyway - back to topic, anyone? how do you like this outdated device the topic started with? i've had my xda atom already 3 month's ago (somewhat exclusively posted some software/hardware review-like pictures Wink). will you buy one? or what's your favorite device (see, i just want to know who i am talking to, why, and what brought you here at all!). mine is the xda neo (htc prophet) since some weeks. i like it because size, functionallity and design!

cheers, lutz

I have been doing little bit of looking around on the internet and can't find a single thing about HP releasing the rw6828. Where exactly did you get this information as it is not on the Japanese or Chinese HP websites (PDA is not listed under the products.) Also, no other site has picked up on it. For being a very anticipated device the release (all be it only in Asia) has been very quiet.
