ok so if this hits the US it will be the upgrade for the wizard i assume - and possibly lure apache users as well...
considering the apache has the best features of american pda phones, i want to examine the pros and cons of the hermes/tytn vs the apache...
pros:
faster processor (same clock but samsung > intel xscale)
faster wifi (g > b)
newer bluetooth (2.0 vs 1.2)
a wheel
better camera (2mp vs 1.3mp)
extra camera (vga)
quad band gsm for worldwide use (cdma not usable in europe, etc.)
edge, umts, hspda > evdo
more hardware buttons
cons:
micro sd (1gb max vs 2gb mini sd on the apache)
slightly smaller keyboard
?:
does it have a flash/light??
can anyone help me expand/correct this list? are there any other comprable pocketpc phones coming to the USA soon?

| jeff, it has got flashlight. Also, it hasn't got an external antenna like the Apache. |

i like the external antenna on my apache because it helps me grip the phone while typing...it also distinguishes the device as a pocketpc phone not just a PDA like an axim.
thanks,

A *real* flash (like the Nokia phones) or just a light, like the HTC Universal ?
The latter is more or less unusable. |

my apache has a "flash-light" not a real flash but it is quite useful. i use VijayCandela to link the light to a hardware button. when i need a light for any reason i just turn on my phone and press the hardware button. it effectively makes my phone a pretty decent flashlight, lol.

Ok, syntactically correct it would be "flash light".
I admit I am not native in English
What I tried to point out:
Phones like the Nokia 6680 (others probably as well, but I also own this phone) act like a camera when switching on the *flash light* and shooting a photo:
A (more or less) synchronized flash of light is emitted when the photo is shot.
With a HTC Universal e.g. a light (similar to a video light) is switched on, not synchronized to the shooting but continuously.
Which of these options are more advantageous ?
Surely the second - but only if you are looking for a mobile phone with a built-in torch light
A real flash light or a special LED designed as a faint flash alternative (you can't really substitute a Xenon light by a tiny LED) is able to emit a relatively large quantum of light within a very short time.
The same amount of light would immediately destroy the LED if emitted for a longer time, as it is the case if the LED acts like a video lamp.
However if you like to prevent underexposure when taking a photo you need as much light intensity as possible but only for a fraction of a second.
Does my question: "flash or video lamp" now make sense for you ?
Still it is unanswered. |

i understood your question before but did not have an answer - what i gave was a reason why i thought the "flash light" was not "more or less unusable" - i admit it was quite useless until vijay came out with his app to activate it using a program that could be bound to a hardware button...thus turning my phone into a usable light source with the press of a button.
