|
|
People asked for it - we did it. Since we are in the lucky situation that we have two HTC TyTN available, we just wanted to check what videophony looks like, if it really works and if we can make some fun out of it....

Lutz,
Would you be able to do that on EVDO in the US? I understand the upstream is not so high yet on Rev 0 of EVDO... do you know if it's fast enough to do video calls or do we have to wait for Rev A?
Thanks,
Sherwin

no no! CDMA EVDO standard doesn't include video calling service at all! But UMTS and HSDPA (fast UMTS) support video calling as part of cellular standard (like SMS for example). So CDMA EVDO is fast enough to implement video calling but video calling is not in standard of CDMA EVDO so nobody uses it. Shortly speaking: if you would use some video conferencing software on both handsets that woud use CDDA EVDO as dummy Internet pipe - then it would work... but since it is not in standard you will not be able call anybody. In UMTS/HSDPA video calling is in the standard so you can call anybody with such phone (because nowadays over 95% of UMTS phones support video calling).
So it is not a matter of "fast enough" but a matter of standards... |

| I wanted to add that in USA both Cingular and T-Mobile are/will be rolling out HSDPA (fast UMTS) networks so video calling is coming to USA too but it will not work on CDMA EVDO networks (like Verizon Wireless or Sprint). |

Any chance to switch back to the blue-colored homescreen ?
In my opinion this greenish color is too bright for every day use. |

it,s good for reportes. But Many pleaces does not support 3G ,then is useless..... Techology is too expensive.
If you are reporter and want to (on live ! ) show Irak or Linban war or difrent kind of crisis or situation ,but place lacks of 3G .....so... |

That was really quite a good video. Wow! That really was very good.
And you don't know how difficult it was for me to write that about this dirty rag of a website! |

hi there
thanks for the various feedback.
@trotamar: i have no idea - please contact me by pn, so we can setup an test, if you really want to know.
@sherwinzadeh: sorry, i have no idea if it will work on your network, please ask the pro's around you (i am sure you'll find some kind of mvp who will be glad to help with his knowledge).
@5HT2A: i hope you mean it like you write it
@ghl: yes of course you can change the colour scheme, only contra is that some screens, e.g. the phone skin, doesn't change colour by default then, but there are various work arounds available for that too. you are right by the way, the green colour looks very nice and brilliant but the white text on it is not really easy to read!
@khak: you saw my two cents about it - i see it pretty much in the same way as you see it. but on the other hand there are some people asking for that feature so if htc is able to integrate it, they should do it. and "like someone told me" there may even be useful ways to use it
@leonard: i can't really believe that you say this. i myself saw this really just like i've wrote on the beginning on the clip: playing stupid (i am champion in this!). but since nobody ever showed what it looks like i just wanted to do it. like said - don't take it too serious, you are visiting the yellow press of windows mobile here (my personal way of thinking but i like to write here from time to time!).
if there are more questions that i (hopefuly) can answer - ask!
cheers! lutz |

Maybe it's a stupid question, but I wonder if it's possible to get the receiving video in fullscreen?
