Very nice pictures and great review of the features.
How about performance though? Is the phone reception good? Is the sound quality for phone calls good? Is the ringing loud enough to hear in a noisy place? Can you feel the vibrate (does it have vibrate)? These are the things that make one phone different from the next especially when they all run the same operating system.
Too bad, once again, there is no 850 MHz coverage for North America. Quad-band GSM plus Wi-Fi could make it a must have. We'll have to wait and see if the rumoured 3G version adds these features.

Lutzh,
Another great photo review! Of all your recent devices which is your favorite and why? The Samsung is much more beautiful then I thought with all it's shiny piano black looks. How does it feel in the hand? |

Lutz, great review. Thank you very much. Looks like a fantastic little phone; I am very tempted by it.
Can you confirm that it is possible to get this phone with an azerty keyboard but an ENGLISH operating system? I would only get it in azerty, but I want to be sure that I won't be limited to a French OS... |

hi michehrlich
no problem, i am running it with the german ui and azerty keys. everything is where it should be as well as it will be if you use it with the english language extensions.
@dwest218: i was a little bit disappointed about the latest htc devices, so i really wanted the samsung badly and i am happy that i have it now. i am carrying it with me since i have it and it looks promising that it will stay in my pockets for a while since it is slim, light, feature rich and a real beauty.
@houdini: i've found no official numers relating the processor speen. somewhere i saw that it runs on 416 mhz, but i couldn't find anything really. so i thought you get an indication about the real good speed in the video. maybe samsung could come back here and tell us about it or i'll check the spb benchmark tools. regarding the 3g version: i've heard some rumors that the non-3g-version will not even be released in an bigger market or from an bigger carrier but samsung will release the 3g version in september. but thats only rumours that i've got from an media agency that works for samsung in germany.
cheers, lutz |

Great review indeed. I own same Samsung cause I love the keypad and also because I write a lot of emails on the go. However 2 things bother me most. Can you confirm that the following are missing or I am misstaken?
1. you can only MANUALY change the band from Europe GSM to US Band like in the old days. So it is not really Tri-Band as we wish to see.
2. Go into email application and write a new email. Then hit menu to select a file that you want to attach. To my surprise you can only insert / attach voicenote or picture. the ''file'' option is not present. The Qtek 8500 does have this feature. Howelse can I send a file from my storagecard via email to someone. With the Samsung it seem not possible.
Please let me know |

| Thanks for the further info, Lutz. Actually my question was pretty stupid -- I forgot that you can just set the language! (I'm thinking along the lines of Windows XP where an installation only comes in one language...). |

@michehrlich: the question is definitly NOT stupid since you would be stucked if you use an pocket pc. only smartphone changes the entire ui on change of language!
@sahli: you are correct in both points.
have a nice day! lutz |

On the email option whereas the insert a file option is missin: Is it possible to get this fixed via a TWEAK assuming someone could do this?
Sorry if I go too far with this subject, but I really would like to know
cheers

| Lack of 'insert a file' is a limitation of Smarphone version of WM. |

sahli, if you want to send a picture do this:
open "pictures & videos" in program list, choose the picture you want to send and press the send key. now you can choose sms/mms or outlook email. and there you go...
cheers, lutz |

Nice review Lutz. The FCC has approved the phone for the US so hopefully we will be getting a US GSM band version. That is adding the 850. The Euro version should work fine on T-Mobile here in the US.

not true, why does it work on the Qtek 8500 which is also Smartphone WM. There is aside of insert picture and voicenote also ''file'' and then you can choose any file to send.
same problem on the Qtek 8310 and now on the SGH 320. |
