It has everything you would need in a tiny ultra-flat smartphone, including Blackberry-like wheel, QWERTY keyboard for single-handed usage, video calling, HSDPA, built-in WiFi, Bluetooth, podcast downloader (!!!), R...

Just one defect: proprietary connector!
Otherwise this may well be the device I'm looking for to replace my sp-5.
Although... I'm thinking about holding out for WM 5.0 Second Edition. Any indication of when that's going to hit the market, Lutz? |

around November 2006
proprietary connector: sincerely speaking I don't mind it - it is more solid than mini-USB me thinks
regarding Second Edition: the Samsung employee was saying something that office software will be added to this phone before launch, so it could be released with Windows Mobile 5.0 Second Edition after all. |

Are you saying that WM 5.0 Second Edition Smartphone will carry mobile office (or something similar)?
Where are you gettting your November 2006 date information from? That's just around the corner. Is that the date for release to OEMs or the date that devices are expected to be available for purchase? |

it is possible, that it will have office viewer at least
November 2006 was mentioned by employee of Samsung who was presenting this phone, but generallly I asked "but before Christmas, right?" and he answered "for sure before Christmas" but of course every manufacturer has delays so 100% sure is nothing. |

This looks like one tempting device for sure. I think they should have at least put in a 2 megapixel camera (if they can fit it into the super-slim D820 they sure can fit it in the i600 too), but I guess that's not the main selling point anyway - the same goes with a camera LED light.
Check out some more pictures of the device here. |

I have no information about it, so I will not lie! If I would be guessing I would say it is tri-band without 850. |

Hopefully the mere OMAP 220Mhz processor specs on this page [http://www.mobile88.com/mobilegallery/specification.asp?phone=samsung_sgh_i600&pg=spec&prodid=20293&cat=8] are not correct..
Otherwise “best MS Smartphone ever” just became the worst Smartphone ever.. I know my SP5 runs great on an OMAP 200Mhz processor, but for video or anything serious I have to over clock it to 260 at least, 300Mhz or 400Mhz would make it amazing.. |

This is just an improved Motorola Q in my opinion (well, very improved). The tiny screen and tiny keyboard make surfing the web and other PDA type functionality impractical in my opinion.
I'm sticking with getting the 8525 when it comes out! |

the screen is tiny maybe but it has 320x240 pixels - the same resolution as 8525 and as most Pocket PC phones! |

| after taking a closer look at its size, in comprarison with the HTC Tytn / Wizard (look at the link posted above) I realize it's not that smaller that that...actually it's just thinner, but it's taller and larger. Because of this, the HTC Tytn is still better all considered...I would consider this if it will be priced at 200 euro below the HTC Tytn's price!!! |
