Let's face it: success of this phone for mobile TV hinges on ability to watch Big Brother with it! Unfortunately at the beginning only cut-down version of Channel 4 - without Big Brother - will be available through...

Erm, in case you hadn't noticed, Big Brother finished in the UK a couple of weeks ago, so it makes precisely no difference at this stage. A number of additional broadcasters have expressed an interest in launching their channels on mobile platforms, and indeed ITV2 and Sky News actually participated in the BT Movio four month trial. BT have themselves said that they expect to offer at least 15 channels in the next twelve months. Sky Three, BBC Three, BBC News 24, and ITV2 are among those expected to join.
Incidentally, you might try reading the information in the press release that you pasted into your article - it does clearly state that although Channel 4 will only broadcast Short Cuts initially, it expects simulcast to follow. That means that the full Channel 4 schedule will be available concurrently on Movio, which also means that when Big Brother actually returns next year, viewers will be able to watch it.
As there is no Big Brother until next summer, are you seriously suggesting that Virgin Mobile should delay the release of the handset until Big Brother returns just so that they can capitalise on its success? Are you really that bloody stupid?
And to suggest that the whole success of the handset depends on being able to watch Big Brother is possibly the single most ridiculous thing you have ever stated. You really are a complete and utter fool. |

I know that there is no Big Brother running now, but you must admit too that THERE IS NO CERTAINTY when/whether Big Brother will be visible in full on Lobster 700? You don't know it for sure, do you?
No, they should not delay the launch. |

There is no certainty about anything, ever, but if you simply engage your brain and use some common sense then you'll avoid making statements that make you look stupid.
Channel 4 is launching with Short Cuts, but as the press release states, the full simulcast of Channel 4 is in the pipeline. The next series of Big Brother will start around the end of May, over eight months away. Big Brother programming is shown on both Channel 4 and E4 (indeed it is broadcast almost continuously on E4 during its run). With the full Channel 4 simulcast on the horizon, I think it's safe to say that Big Brother programming will feature.
Incidentally, E4 is launching as a full channel on the network. Given that E4 broadcasts Big Brother for around 18-20 hours per day during its run, even if Channel 4 isn't simulcasting by May 2007, what on earth makes you think that they won't show Big Brother on the E4 phonecast? And furthermore, as C4 only shows limited highlights of Big Brother, I'm still struggling to understand what the hell you're talking about.
Can you explain? Because as far as I can see, all logic points towards Big Brother being available - at least on E4 if not also on C4 - by the time it returns next year, and it's only your strange, confused and poorly considered conclusions that are assuming that there will be no Big Brother.
So in fact, you're talking utter balls as usual. Unless you can actually give a proper reason for why you think Big Brother won't be available, then I suggest you shut the hell up. |

the reason: lack of Channel4 in full version.
regarding E4: it is not broadcasting hottest live moments, but just Big Brother's little brother, etc.
anyway: do you agree with me that having Big Brother live broadcasted to this phone is of vital importance to success of this service and phone? Can we at least agree on this one? |

Okay, you're really starting to bore me now, and it's extremely irritating that you're trying to defend yourself on a point that you've neither thought through, nor actually bothered to research.
You say that the new Virgin Mobile TV service will not succeed because there will be no Big Brother. Well, E4 has Big Brother for around 20 hours a day, and will be streaming its full content onto the mobile TV platform from the very start, so there'll be plenty of Big Brother there.
Even though you've been proved wrong, you persist in labouring the point. Not enough, you say, because only the Channel 4 Short Cuts made-for-mobile TV channel will be broadcasting initially. Even though the very press release that you have pasted in states clearly that the full Channel 4 simulcast is coming soon, you choose to ignore this and again labour the fact that because only Channel 4 Short Cuts will be able from the beginning that there is a chance that there will be no C4 Big Brother content.
If you'd actually bothered to do ANY research into this "story" - which is actually just a really crap opinion piece which wouldn't be good enough for most blogs - you'd have discovered that C4's made-for-mobile content does not exclude Big Brother.
If you see this press release, you'll see that:
Channel 4 launched its mobile portal in May 2005 to coincide with the start of Big Brother 6. At launch, viewers who used text messages to try and evict contestants received an SMS reply from Channel 4 with a link to the mobile portal where they could download exclusive video and pictures of the housemates.
Now, while this does not directly relate to Short Cuts, it is in a press release (dated 5 Sep 2006) about the development of Channel 4's mobile vision - and the fact that they chose to launch their mobile web portal with Big Brother shows that they understand the importance of the programme in terms of expanding their mobile portfolio.
If you employed just a modicum of common sense, you'd surely conclude that they'd therefore not be stupid enough to withhold Big Brother content from their brand new mobile TV simulcast. Don't you understand that, you bloody idiot?
There is nothing - NOTHING - to even remotely suggest that Big Brother would not be available on the new TV service. YOU are the only one making that claim, and you have absolutely no evidence, no shred of logic, to actually support that claim.
So why don't you just do us all a favour and stick to the sodding facts for once? |

This is another classic from msmobiles.
Firstly, BB in the UK is big, in terms of media coverage etc, but isn't all that big ratings wise. I don't have any facts as to what is the the biggest show for the target audience, but I doubt you have too... go could you tell me where you got this info from, and if correct I will apologise.
Also, E4 during big brother has NEAR 24/7 Live streaming from big brother. It also repeats the highlights show. Big Brothers little brother is on C4.
Finally, why are you so obsessed with Big Brother? Its really really bad.. |

This site, despite its utterly amateurish conduct, used to have some decent information provided by an opinionated person. In the last 18 months, however, this site has evolved into the soapbox of an egomaniacal crackpot. The glaring lack of response to thelondonthing's clearly constructed response in this thread leads me to believe msmobiles.com_wiseacre, dredging up his final shred of rationality, perhaps realizes how ridiculous his posts have become. We can always hope...
Someday, this site might get back into the business of providing its visitors real, untainted, "whole truth" information. |

Just a little sidenote, since we are talking Big Brother.
1. There will probebly be a Celebrity Big Brother in January. (Around 30 days)
2. BBLB will probebly not return in todays format as Dermot left for BBC.
3. ..and yes BB is contracted for next summer. (Todays running contract is for 2 years, 2006 and 2007)
4. ..and finally a kick to the guys in Netherland, even thoe John DeMol (Creator of BB) runs Talpa and BB Netherland is in its 6th season, atm they are nowhere near reaching the quality and audience of BB UK.
