It looks like HTC continues the HTC Wizard line by releasing HTC Herald, that also misses out on 3G/UMTS but is thinner than HTC Wizard:

I'm curious: how did you find out there's no UMTS or HSDPA?
Last time I looked at solopalmari (the server's too busy now) those specs weren't known yet...

have you noticed missing camera for video calling in the front? besides: processor 200 MHz from TI is not able to handle 3G/UMTS.

I dont see the point in these minor revisions to their products.

Do something amazing for a change? HTC produce average hardware most of the time. Dumb phones from Sony Ericsson and Samsung are slicker.

well, small improvements - like reducing thickness - are also important. The thinner the phone, the more pleasant to carry in pockets of your trousers.

Yes, but the Palm 750v is missing that as well, without it affecting the inclusion of UMTS.

Really? I know it couldn't handle Skype, but I didn't know it also excluded 3G.

have you noticed that HTC Mteor smartphone that has UMTS and no video calling has processor 300 MHz from Samsung and not TI 200 MHz ?

Yeah but thickness isn't a problem, it is the footprint and weight of the unit that is the problem.

I'm just stating that producing a slightly slimmer version of an existing product doesn't help them catch up to the competition.

If all of their phones had good camera and video recording playback that would be something, they can't even do that as good as some dumb phones.

I have a MIO A701 and the camera on that is rubbish too. I just find the approach to cameras by Windows Mobile vendors is unacceptable for something that has powerful media functionality. At least the MIO has GPS.

I like that it is thinner, but would definitely appreciate a faster processor and better camera. I am so over the washed out color images of these devices!

i think you fail to realize that not all processors are created equal Mhz to Mhz. Fact that the TI runs at 200mhz does not mean its slower than the Samsung 300Mhz processor, which in fact was proven to be an underwhelming performer in the banchamarks I've seen.

if you have supporting evidence showing the TI 200mhz being such a dog compared to the Samsung 300mhz it would be nice to see it
