Due to dominating market position in USA (and USA only) Palm Inc has become extremely arrogant and dared to release in Europe the latest Treo (fortunately powered by Windows Mobile) without built-in Wi-Fi.

I have used loads of pocket pc phones some with wifi and some without and the killer feature for me is it works as a phone and pda. Well you can stick all these reviews of the palm treo 750v the fact is its the only pocket pc phone that works easily one handed and works well.
Case closed buy it you wont regret it for a second
Oh and wifi is a waste of battery |

Why does everything have to be arrogance?
Why can't a choice have been made which, perhaps, most people don't approve of and can therefore be seen as a mistake?
Why all the paranoid conspiracy-esque blabla?
I could give you "they made a mistake".
But "They became arrogant and DRUNK WITH POWER AND DARED TO yaddayaddayadda"..?
It's not like they're Icarus, laughing at the gods, for crying out loud; a sense of perspective would do wonders for the argument. |

Palm claims that Treo 750v is especially designed for European market but lack of built-in Wi-Fi (and lack of 3G video calling) proves that it is a lie. Palm is arrogant by ignoring the fact that there is no flat rate unlimited mobile Internet tariffs in most countries in Europe, including Vodafone and UK, and by not including Wi-Fi - at least in some of their models.
Of course for many people Wi-Fi is not irrelevant but Treo 750v is priced as high end phone and high end phone without Wi-Fi is nowadays something wrong - something too little. |

Well, here in the US will sure take the 750v. I can't wait for the device to hit US shores. My KJAM will hold me over until the 750 gets here. Wifi? Bah, I can count the number of time I have used wifi on my KJAM on two hands in over a year that I have owned the device. _________________ JNGold

Yeah i am with you JN to say this device is rubbish as it has no wifi is quite ridiculous. If you are a big wifi user then fair enough but the majority of us are not. This device rocks and anyone who says dont buy it are just plain ignorant

Ditto.
Also, the article is right about the fact that they price the Treo as a highend phone yet they don't offer highend features. If it was reasonably priced then we wouldn't (or at least shouldn't) complain, but for that money you/we have every right to demand Wifi, regardless of your particular usage of that technology. _________________ Palm Vx -> Palm 505 -> Dell Axim -> Palm TE -> Qtek 9090 -> Nokia 6630 -> iMate SP3i -> Nokia 9300 -> Treo 650 -> hw6915 -> Nokia E51 -> Touch Enhanced |

Have you ever heard about the feature called "Off"??
It's very useful as it allows you to disable certain functions, such as the phone, the screen, alarms...... and yes, even Wifi! Stop and think about that for a second. Think! Do you understand what the implications of this are?
Or do you believe that the earth is flat simply because Palm tells you so? _________________ Palm Vx -> Palm 505 -> Dell Axim -> Palm TE -> Qtek 9090 -> Nokia 6630 -> iMate SP3i -> Nokia 9300 -> Treo 650 -> hw6915 -> Nokia E51 -> Touch Enhanced |

I think people are overlooking the role of Vodaphone with this phone.
wi-fi enables you to link to the net cheaply using home networks or wi-fi hot spots that are now profilerating across the UK. Does Vodaphone want you to do this?? No, of course not. It wants you to pay through the nose for its data services.
The Bluetooth on this phone is also crippled so that you can only connect to a headset. Why? Because Vodaphone does not want you to transfer images, files and MP3's freely to other devices. It wants you pay for MMS, SMS etc etc.
People hate Vodaphone and its restrictive proprietry U/I's, software, crippled hardware etc. Its the Vodaphone version of this phone that sucks, not the phone itself. |

You're partly right, the carriers usually have too much influence in these cases.
But if it were that simple than the unlocked 750 would have Wifi, as in Nokia's E61/E62. Unfortunately that's not the case so Palm is also to blame here (and I really wish someone would prove me wrong here: I asked in another thread what the chances were of the unlocked version having Wifi and that possibility was completely dismissed). _________________ Palm Vx -> Palm 505 -> Dell Axim -> Palm TE -> Qtek 9090 -> Nokia 6630 -> iMate SP3i -> Nokia 9300 -> Treo 650 -> hw6915 -> Nokia E51 -> Touch Enhanced |
