|

There is no reason to buy Nokia E61 (available in Europe and for online purchase worldwide) or Nokia E62 (available on Cingular in USA) smartphones anymore because a phone that is smaller and more powerful is co...

| You say that the Nokia E62 has no wifi. Does the Blackjack? I don't think so. If it does then it's a slam dunk. Still for me it's between the blackjack and 8525... Form factor vs Functionality... |

heh, well, E61/62 have bigger display, 2,4" vs. 2,8"
plus E61 and E62 have much bigger batter => 1500 mah i.e. better stamina |

These guys already stated what I was going to comment.
1. True, the resolution is the same, but the article should mention that the display is larger on the E62, as a lot of people put more focus on screen size rather than resolution.
2. True, the E62 doesn't support Wi-Fi but neither does the Blackjack. I know you saw it in a European version's menu, but according to Cingular's documentation and other reviews I have read, Cingular's Blackjack does *not* support Wi-Fi.
I agree that a relatively inexexpensive and thin device with HSDPA support and Windows Mobile 5 is very exciting and definitely breaking new ground, but the list you posted in your ariticle is, while technically accurate, a bit misleading.
By the way, the 8525 is still a superior product in my opinion given the fact that it runs the Pocket PC version of WM5, not the Smartphone edition, supports Wi-Fi (even 802.11g), has a larger keyboard, has longer battery life according to reviews, and has a much faster processor. |

Why does every thread immediately degenerate into a freeforall about which device or OS is (subjectively) superior? There is no supreme device/OS, period! What is 'superior' to you is unnecessarily unproductive clutter to another. Ever wonder why a market demand exists for anything but what you prefer? |

Noted. However, yours is not the only opinion expressed, nor is that single sentence of yours the only opinion/judgment you offer. In addition, your supreme device only offers WPA WiFi encryption, which is substandard. The point being made is that all devices have weaknesses which matter more to some than to others and no one stands in judgment of what is 'the best'. |

Two reasons why someone wouldn't get one of these:
1. They like symbian
2. They don't like Microsoft.
I'm no huge fan of Microsoft, but I like the usability of the Windows Mobile OS. My experience of Symbian phones is they often have too little free memory after bootup. |

Same simplistic points can be stated about any competitive products.
Your 2 reasons are based upon support for a company, not necessarily support for an OS, as you go on to illustrate by your statement "I'm no huge fan of Microsoft, but I like the usability of the Windows Mobile OS.". In the North American market, Symbian has very little presense, outside of the sale of Nokia phones as just phones. Not that the NA market dictates what is a worthy product to the rest of the world, but it does carry some weight to manufacturers. Life is full of choices and no one owns the market on who is right nor who is wrong. The NA market has been all over the board with MS vs RIM vs Palm with consumers changing devices based upon which of those companies make the biggest leap forward with a new OS product that delivers the goods.
I happen to agree with the premise of your statement in that one can subscribe to the product of a company while having misgivings about the company that produced it. Almost on a daily basis, it's necessary for me to hold my nose while I deal with suppliers, contractors, consultants. Ultimately, it's the choice I make as I'm not forced to do business with any of them. Companies are like people, in that none of them is perfect and as long as they are making attempts to reach and grow, will be open to having people take childish cheapshots at them as a disturbed form of 'self-entertainment'.
No, gilesjuk, I'm not talking about you. Those who are guilty of this are very well known as they make targets of themselves, here and elsewhere. Somehow, I find it difficult to fathom that any person over the age of 20 can make any of the rediculous statements made, yet they claim to have procreated and hold positions of authority while the rest of the reasonable world proclaims 'BULLSHIT!' |

What kind of discussion you expect from the articles, which boast the superiority of one Windows Mobile phone? Nothing needs to degenerate here. It is what it is from the very beginning. Thanks to wiseacre.

I don't know is it animosity or inanity, which makes you to write stupid comments to every opinion here. I know you think that everything wiseacre says comes directly from heaven. Happily, I - the voice of truth - am here
