No longer i-mate can just stick its own label on HTC manufactured phones... because HTC has dumped i-mate and now i-mate has to source their phones from other manufacturers.

With smaller OEMs, it is possible i-Mate may have had input in the design. Ok, not in the component level, but they may have said "give up a smartphone with 2mp camera, no keyboard, 3G etc.." and chosen from a number of prototypes.
We can only guess, but I would imagine customers of HTC etc do have some input. |
