I was always interested in phones with tuners built in but a little confused at how it works. Is it like 3g where the operator is responsible for the signal?
The price is very good and might give it a try |

No need to buy an unlock, Virgin Mobile will give you the unlock code when you ask.
At least that is how it used to be, you buy the phone outright when you purchase it, so they give you the unlock code on request. |

I have bought this phone myself and I have tested it thoroughly. I will publish review tomorrow (Sunday).
shortly speaking my verdict is: BUY THIS PHONE! If not as primary phone then give it a try and buy it to try it out yourself - as your secondary mobile or buy for your children, your family, or friends! This phone adds :
--- mobile TV (with small monthly fee)
--- digital radio (with no fee) - superb sound quality unachievable in FM radio
I love this phone. |

Don't make me laugh. You've just read the press releases.
A good FM signal sounds miles BETTER than a good digital signal. FACT.
It's down to bitrates and sound processing, ie: the fact that most radio stations process their FM feed but not their DAB feed.
Having said that, DAB is great for choice, and there are lots of stations available. The mobile TV offering is also pretty good.
The phone's bulge does not annoy, but the crap keypad will. Still, its hard not to recommend at this price, if only to dazzle your friends with! |

actually not! I actually purchased this phone.
Regarding sound quality: it depends on radio station by radio station on 2 things:
--- bit rate - some stations use very low bit rate some use higher
--- how the sound is prepared before broadcasting
Regarding keypad: I love it and it suits me very well. So it must be matter of taste.
Anyway super-detailed review of this phone will be published today on msmobiles.com so spare your thoughts until you will see full review! |

True, however a mobile phone or other digital device that is compact often struggles to get a clean FM signal. Too often you get crosstalk and so you hear digital noise in the signal. |

Hang on, you say "actually not" then agree with me? Interesting.
Anyway, giles - fair point, but dont expect a 100% signal with DAB either - its afunny bugger. Having said that, I am a massive fan of DAB and have it incar.
Remember DAB is always broadcast in vertical polarisation in the UK, and therefore a vertical aerial is the best (phone in pocket, earphones in.. erm.. ear should work well, as the cable will be vertical). |
