Not all Windows Mobile 5.0 operating systems are equal! The main difference lies in which AKU given Windows Mobile device has in its ROM image. Here we explain in big details and with many screen shots what is in AK...

Yes, very informative but what about a "noob" coming to this site. You know what AKU is but would they??? Perhaps not.
If this had been me I would have set the scene first ie
"Microsoft creates updated builds of the Windows Mobile operation system called Adaptation Kit Updates (AKU). These releases are rarely intended directly for consumers, and are usually a result of some extra features or fixes required by a particular Windows Mobile device."
A good piece of advice I rec'd from a lecturer was "always state the obvious" |

Great article... and came at a perfect time for me.
We've been using DirectPush with our Exchange server AKU2.2 devices now for the last 6 months... everything works great.
Someone just got the Dash with AKU 3, and push email wont work!
We even tried the Blackjack (AKU3) on our servers, and the push wont work either.
The device does sync fine with our servers, its just that push wont work.
Any ideas why our AKU2.2 devices work fine with push, but the AKU3 devices dont?
Thanks. |

you need to have direct push pack installed in ROM - it is separate thing from AKU. For some reason T-Mobile obviously didn't do it. Of course you could try to install ROM image from HTC's version of Dash, but I wouldn't recommend it. |

Just one candid question: you know the latest PND from Nokia is using Windows mobile:
Is the same windows mobile as what is described here?
Thanks. |
no, nokia unit is powered by Windows CE which is not the same as Windows Mobile! Windows Mobile = Windows CE + layer of applications and APIs written over Windows CE |

Woahhh, r u saying that the Tmo Dash does not have Directpush capabilities?
Why would an AKU3 device NOT have directpush capabilities? |
