... and no, it has no built-in GPS as some rumors said! The only GPS that this phone will be abile to use is "stand alone GPS" (as HTC puts it), what in other words means "Bluetooth GPS unit" that is separate fr...

Hi
I spoke with HTC UK today and they comfirmed it has GPS built-in but not activated. They told me this will happen soon, do orange state on their website anything about GPS availability?
Decided that Nokia N95 is not for me and i need to come BACK to windows mobile because S60 is buggy as hell, if HTC p3600 does get gps it will beat N95 hands down |

sorry but my principle is "seeing is believing" and Orange France also says nothing about GPS. If this phone really has GPS and Orange people don't like they should put "GPS (to be activated later by software upgrade)" near specs.
regarding going back to Windows Mobile - thank you very much! |

I suggest you view the Standalone demo on this page:
http://www.cdmatech.com/products/gpsone.jsp
gpsOne is the chip this phone uses. The standalone mode is GPS without the need for the phone network. |

The HTC Universal also has the gpsone chipset, and nobody has ever enabled it.
I doubt they will bother to be honest. |

I think the HTC Hermes does also. I guess it is down to the antenna and if they are fitted. A GPS chip won't get a signal without one. |
