Apple can try, but I believe Linksys has had the rights to the iPhone name since the early 1990s. I may be wrong, but I'm reasonably sure that's correct.

yes, Cisco (that owns Linksys; Cisco = professional network equipment, Linksys - consumer orientated network equipment) owns "iPhone" brand.

From what I have heard the Apple phone will be called "iPod Phone".

Since iPod Phone will need iTunes and many Windows users hate iTunes, I think that still Windows Mobile phones will have future after iPod phone... but that Google phone is more interesting than iPod phone!

iPOD Phone isn't very catchy. iPOD as a name doesn't really describe the function of the device. So they can call the device something else anyway.

I can confirm - Google phone is in the works and will be manufacturered by HTC (just like Treo 650 and 700p), but will not run Windows Mobile. It will instead compete directly against Windows Mobile and other smartphones!
