Hi
Looks bulky! If somethings gonna be bulkier than the Universal then I would expect it to do more.
Min acceptable res for UMPC is 800x480 (WVGA), and it cant hope to compete against future UMPC's that run full Vista.
HTC would be better off not fooling about in market sectors to which they are new, and sticking to what they are best at.
Pushing some talent in the direction of the Universals replacement dev team would be a good start!

Most people (PDA users) are NOT interested in apps and bling bling, if it cuts battery time by 1/4 or more, they accept WiFi, BT, and GPS because it can be turned off, when not needed.
Most PDA enthusiasts want VGA, because it looks nice, and improves video quallity. |

WHERE did get the idea that VGA pdaphone wil cut the battery life by 25%?? How many complains about short battery life on Dell x51 VGA pda or HP 4700 VGA pda do u know??
VGA screen is NOT just about looking nice and improves video quality!
it is MUCH EASIER to surf internet on VGA! and when u access your homepc remotely, it looks just like your home computer! |

What a disgusting "thing". So sad to see how low HTC finally has come. They really have lost the touch. Hope Samsung can bear the torch.

Quite a few, actually, take a look through the forum at www.aximsite.com on dates arround when the x50v hit the shelves (about sept. 2004 as I recall it). The main concern was battery time being max 3 hrs. where the QVGA x50 ran for 4 hrs. on the same battery.
I know it's not the screen alone, that drains the power, the graphics chip helps it, to do that, but then again, VGA witout a graphics booster, would kill the CPU, and slow down the PPC a lot.
BTW: Neither Dell Axim x50/50 serries nor HP iPAQ hx4700 are PDA phones, they are "just" PDA's
Phone funktions are battery killers too, since Phone Eddition PDA's dont shut down when you hit the power button, they just go into hibernation, and are still using a lot of power to keep the phone allive |

They're trying to reach lowest common denominators which is something you of all people (and I use that term very loosely) should appreciate. _________________ _________________

specifications of this phone are not finalized yet and some people are just guessing anyway.
what would be the point of this phone if it has no VGA ? |

HELLO??
x50v (VGA) is running at 624mzh! while the regular x50 with QVGA is running at 520mzh and 400mzh! the reason y the dell VGA pda having shorter battery is cus of higher cpu speed! it has nothing to do with VGA or QVGA screen, what kills the battery is the "backlight". so are u telling if i put a 25w bulb in a big room is using more energy then if i put the 25w bulb in a small room?? |

You received your advanced Industrial Design degree when ?
A PDA's resource requirements are not those of a multifunctional cellular device, though this will not prevent you from whining some more. _________________ _________________
