One good new feature is you can open files when you are browsing the device from explorer on your PC. Rather than having to copy them off, then open them, as you would in ActiveSync explore.

msmobiles_wiseacre,

ADMIN ... Do an IP CHECK on the fools casting stones as well as on me and post the results in public view, crosscheck it with the IP's of the tools posting their SPAM. If you don't have the tools to nail these idiots down, I'll be glad to lend a hand so this site can be fumigated. Otherwise, you can be certain that they will bring this forum to its knees replete with spam from every direction.

Must you attempt to derail every thread with your "new-found" support for these forums? Confused How touching! Rolling Eyes

warpoet: you again are starting flaming. I am thankful for your advice regarding spammers but if I will see ONE MORE post of yours that will be off topic (here topic: Windows Vista and connecting Windows Mobile to it) then I will ban you. Enough is enough.

You, started it warpoet! I have banned you.

Send me email to "info", then symbol @, then "msmobiles.com" with explanation why I should unban you or you will stay banned for ever.

You warpoet: a) started writing off-topic, b) were flaming = posting off topic in various threads - not writing on topic of given thread.

Enough is enough, warpoet is banned.

I've been playing w/ Mobile Device Center (Beta 3) for a couple of weeks on a RTM version of Vista. Here are a couple of my observations:

1) That Autoplay window is kind of annoying with a WM device. I can see how it may be useful for a camera or other device, but I just want to sync my WM device without having to go through extra clicks every time I cradle the device. I have yet to find a way to disable it for the device (other autoplay windows will usually have a 'take no action' option, if I remember correctly). Actually, once the WMP is fixed (see #2), the 'Sync Media via WMP' will most likely be the default option I would want to use.

2) The option to sync media to the device via WMP doesn't seem to work in Beta 3. I was able to sync audio files to the SD card in my device w/ XP & WMP11 using AS 4.2, but now neither the WM device nor the card in the device appear in WMP, even though they do appear in Explorer.

3) Why doesn't the device appear in Sync Center? For that matter, why is WMDC a seperate app than Sync Center? Wasn't the point of Sync Center to have a single location to monitor all your syncs and partnerships?

Please post if your experiences have been different.

Sync Center is just a simple file synchronization
but WMDC requires special drivers for Windows Mobile - USB drivers, converters of content, configuration assistants, etc - so Sync Center would not suffice because WMDC is so much more.

Regarding other points: I will double-check them yet.

I am waiting to see if WM devices will indeed work with sideshow.

I am guessing that you will need extra software on your device though as Crossbow doesn't seem to have any options for this from what I have seen in all the reviews so far.
