The one with QWERTY keyboard, very thin, and with a genuine scroll-wheel (like in BlackBerry) is particularly impressive one...

Tough times for i-mate abandoned by HTC, ugly new devices manufactured by who knows? and now Samsung as a major competitor. _________________ WiFiFoFum Pocket PC Wardriving

Tough times maybe... But the Jaq3 is the only WM5 qwerty bar PPC with a QVGA screen available. Unless you count the BenQ P51 which I don't because information and availability on that is null.
So I will most definitely be buying a JaQ3 because I hate that awful excuse for a screen on the Palm Treo. If it only had 3G. I'm not going to complain though and just enjoy that awesome form factor. You know how fast I'm going to be able to navigate on that thing? Fast.
Don't worry I'll overclock it. And look at all those buttons. Right where they should be and shaped how they should be! Dang. Sure it doesn't look "sexy" but I dont' care about sexy I want functional. This is going to be sweet. |

hi
ive been using jaq 3 last 3 weeks..
my impressions :
1)although its 200 mhz the os menus are pretty quick but when it comes to opening large word or pdf files or playing movies this baby sux!
2)no 3g or video calling ...this baby sucks
3)but the most important thing that pisses me off MOST is: majority of games dont work in its landscape oriented 320x240 screen. im just left with solitaire ...which SUX
the only reason i got this phone was the keyboard layout and the phone usage being really single handed..typing sms and emails while driving is a breeze
wishlish : screen 240x320 , atleast 400 mhz processor , and 3g with video calling..then this baby would not sux |

1)Did you overclock it?
2)You knew it didn't have 3G going into it so why are you surprised
3)I thought it could rotate to portrait mode? |

yeah regarding overclocking.. i used omapclock and you cant overclock it more than 216 mhz.. instant hang.. at one level below this it works fine (as is for a while then it will hang) i dont understand why because from what ive read the processor on this and k-jam is the same and i use my kjam at 240 mhz without any problems
yeah i knew it had no 3 g.. but i wish it did
the portrait roation is scaled .. meaning that the screen res or size is not like normal portrait ..the jaq3 scales it.. thats why not many games are working ... and thats why this device SUX |

Hmmm that does sux. Mostly the not being able to overclock... But I'll still try it out though.
Also are you using the UBIQIO 501 or a JaQ3? If a JaQ3 how did you get it?
Also try this overclocker out. Not sure if you did. It's called BatteryStatus(yeah it overclocks too). Lemme know if it works. If you got a JaQ3 so early maybe it's got preproduction bugs and won't overclock for some reason. Anyway here's the link

OEMs must start creating sexy devices, Windows Mobile has got all the juice needed for great mobility, but the devices are so unsexy.
Apple comes out with a phone that has 1/2 the features WM5 has got, and everybody is drooling...its the --- appeal that works, its design that makes people wonder!
If OEM's wont make a change, maybe MS should start creating thier own smartphone, just like it happened with XBOX, and ZUNE!! |

by 1/2 the features you mean like multi-touch, random access voice mail, full html web browser, call conference, etc, etc, etc? |

No, I think he means document viewing/editing (like MS Office, PDF, eBooks, etc), lack of 3G, No GPS, non-removable battery, etc, etc, etc. Full web browser and conference call already exist in WM phones. He might also be inferring the lack of one-handed operation, something highly desirable in a working phone. _________________ good titles are misleading!

I did link it but here it is again:
http://www.qwertybar.com/misc/batterystatus.cab
I have a couple questions.
How hard is it to push in the keyboard buttons?
Is it rubberized?
Does the scroll wheel click in?
Does the dpad feel solid?
Does the stylus feel better constructed then the Wizard/Hermes stylus? |
