Unlike HTC that is coming this year to 3GSM for the first time,
i-mate is coming to 3GSM for years already, and we even managed to interview Jim Morrison last year!

I for one hope iMate will focus on the Jaq line and perfect it. The Treo is big(and only) competition but they don't offer a QVGA qwertybar phone. I think a lot of people would be interested in that difference. They should try and use a portrait faced screen like the BenQ P5x series instead of landscape one. My only reason there is you can fit a 2.8 inch screen into a relatively small package. My P50 isn't really that big. But the JaQ3 looks quite large.

Honestly though if they just shaved a bit off the bottom, added a faster proc(or at least an overclockable one) and 3G to the JaQ3 they would have a real winner. With that awesome button layout and rubberization and how thin it is I think they would get a lot more respect.

What is this stupid PDA-L or whatever they're designing. And honestly the K-JAR looks uninspiring as well. iMate you have the ability to make a good qwertybar ppc phone with a proper screen. Stick with it! If it's sweet I'll buy 2.

Well, we will interview CEO of i-mate (Jim Morrison) next month at 3GSM 2007 conference / trade show. If you have questions that you would like to ask i-mate - please post them here and I maybe be able to ask them him in person!

(last year I audi-recorded interview with him that you can see/hear HERE)

Yes please ask if they intend to tweak the JaQ line and implement a better processor and incorporate 3G. And possibly a portrait faced screen like the BenQ P50. Please remind this guy about the buzz around the P50 before it came out. People called it the Treo killer. The only reason it flopped was because it came out late and had a buggy ROM and battery life. PEOPLE WANT A QVGA QWERTYBAR PPC PHONE DAMMIT! Smile

Ask him if he realizes how well the JaQ line could do if they were to perfect it? Comparing to how well people seem to like the qwertybar design with the Treo.

Basically yes. Give Treo a run for it's money.

iMate do not have the ability to make anything! The company is 100% dependent on outside sources.

Correction: we are not sure whether we will get interview with i-mate this year after all. Apparently i-mate is angry that we are not praising their phones but instead criticizing them (how can one praise a phone without 3G and with slow processor?). We will be trying to get this interview but it looks now that i-mate gives interviews only to publications that praise them Sad Shocked

You are correct. I hope they convince TechFaith to make another version.
