"...5 distinctive form factors to choose from."
They all look like they have that stupid joystick to me. Man, use a normal "Treo" style dpad. Sheesh.
In it's defense I haven't used it yet but it's not looking very promising. |

2100 is a UMTS/HSDPA band used in Japan from where Toshiba comes from
... and by the way used also in Europe. I reckon that there will be American version of Toshiba G900 too... |

it' just DUMB! doesnt make much of a business sense! y spend time and money to develop 2 version when u can just stick a chip that does tri-band HSDPA! look at Tytn, and all future imate stuffs, tri-band HSDPA is standard! |

I don't agree, I reckon that 99% of all users will never use "foreign" bands - only very few users will use both American and European/Japanese UMTS/HSDPA bands. Statistics! |

the problem with single band HSDPA 2100, is that u locked out all those customers that using 850/1900 HSDPA!
statistics? the reasons y Tytn is outselling Unverisal by a huge margin is cus Tytn is tri-band hsdpa and unverisal is 2100 hsdpa only.
the only reason i didnt get Unversial cus it got no 850/1900 HSDPA |

As an owner of an Imate Jam I am more confident that Imate will supply regular ROM updates for the Ultimate series. They have a good track record in this as I had downloaded from their site all ROM upgrades that were pulished for the Jam.
I was considering purchasing an HTC P3600 and would have gone for it had HTC published any ROM upgrades for their devices. According to HTC's website no ROM upgrades for their devices are available. This is worrying considering that their own-branded devices have been out for several months.
Specifications aside it is the (anticipated) availability of ROM devices for the Imate Ultimates that has made me consider them as my next device. |

| I don't know the actual statistics but I imagine any company who doesn't put quad GSM and tri HSPDA in their phones doesn't sell enough to North America to warrant that decision. They are in the business of making money first and foremost. HTC on the other hand dables in the North America market quite a bit with all their TREO junk and HP crap and with Cingular and Tmobile. So that's why they are more likely to go with that. I dunno. I also wish they all came with quad/tri but sometimes they dont' and it is unfortunate for us North American folk. |

heh? where do I have it from otherwise? Are you some small child from kindergarten or something?
I have interviewed i-mate managers (podcast with interview coming soon) and by the way I got that USB memory stick with PDF and other files.
regarding size: the photos in the link that you show are showing AN EMPTY PLASTIC DUMMY and not a phone!!! The only phone that was working from Ultimate series that was presented at 3GSM 2007 was 5150 - all other were plastic dummies without any electronics... so let's wait yet for final release before you will start crying! |

something that starts with "a". Aremo, or so. I think they told me it in the interview... but in any case: whole design and testing and everything is i-mate only. |

I've used a couple joysticks on some nokia phones (mainly 6600), and I have to say I prefer the joystick to the regular pad any day; It's much easier to use.. Not to mention that the directional buttons on my PDA2k (which isnt a joystick) are not as easy to press as they used to be, they kind of wore down.
Anyway, besides that, the 7150 and 9150 ultimates both don't have joysticks.. |

So empty plastic phone models can have any shape and size regardless what the final product will be? Should we trust the specs or the plastic whatever useless dont-look-like-anything-real-toys? There really is a problem with the 8123 (or whatever it was) pictures and the sizes in specs. Makes me wonder if these phones will ever see daylight and if they do then the specs may be totally different.
What comes to your style to comment as an editor of this site you really lack dignity of any kind. Calling people as child and asking them to stop crying is not something a professional journalist writes. But hey, who has said there is any professionals here or quality journalism. Nobody. Absolutely nobody and absolutely never ever.
