Am I missing something here .. I thought yahoo go can be downloaded from the yahoo website for well over 8 months now.

I have been using Yahoo-Go wm2005 edition for about 6 months..
now.

you mean Yahoo Go 1.0 !
Yahoo Go! 2.0 - the much improved version - still is not available for download for Windows Mobile and Yahoo has just signed agreement with HTC to embed it in HTC devices.

Yahoo Go 2.0 was not available last month during 3GSM 2007 but apparently it has just become available at http://mobile.yahoo.com/go !
