First device from HTC branded by HTC but not powered by Windows Mobile is "HTC Shift" - a UMPC powered by Windows Vista (with Aero and Flip3D supported), that also features cellular connectivity ( including HSDPA)...

Battery life is critical on these devices.

What use is an ultra mobile if you have to find a power point every two hours.

The Sony UMPC has a really disappointing battery life of about two hours.

yes, battery life is critical but let's wait what this device will offer!

I know that Samsung Q1 Ultra UMPC has 4 hours on standard battery and 6 hours on high-capacity battery so I expect that HTC Shift will have at least 4 hours... let's see yet.

and still HTC is not making any Windows Mobile phones with touch-screen and QWERTY keyboard for single handed usage,

I was wondering, didn't HTC produce the Treo 750 for Palm with touchscreen and querty ?? (e.g. its also showing up in xda-developers.com menu) or don't you consider the Treo750 "for single hand usage"?

Keep up the good work...

Treo 750 is indeed a QWERTY keyboard equipped phone for single handed usage, but it is not branded by HTC but by Palm - so it doesn't count. In other words: HTC is not selling as itself such phones. With HTC manufactured Treo-s most profits and credit goes to Palm and Palm is using also Inventec for manufacturing and is planning to dump HTC soon...

Smile Your right..... but don't you think when HTC manufactures this device for Palm they were not allowed to produce the same device and just rebrand it and sell it under HTC or before Qtek brand and thus making competition to their business partner Palm ?? Laughing

Didn't mean to criticize, just an explanation to why HTC never produced such a device...

that is EXACTLY what I think... but obviously HTC never confirms or denies it in public.

Too bad HTC chose to go with the VIA 1.2GHz processor. This system will crawl running Vista. Sad

When they say 'cellular connectivity' does this extend to making and receiving calls and SMS?

Currently there is always a trade off between battery life and processor performance.

I'm sure you could wipe this device clean and install XP.
