Officially Windows Live for Windows Mobile (that offers improvement instant messaging, email, etc) will be available only as pre-installed version in Windows Mobile 6 devices, but unofficially on many mirrors all ov...

Unclear about WL for WM5?

Windows Live for WM5 was in beta testing for so much time...

The beta ended on march 31 or something, which means it's close to a release. The whole point is Microsoft will release WL for WM5 because they've already tested it, I've already tested it...

Hypothetically if WL were only released for WM6, don't you think it would be quite brute of Microsot to forget about WM5 users that fast?

And about the conclusion, "upgrading to WM6 nonetheless". that sounded too microsoft-paid for me

NO NO NO! It is not certain whether it will happen... particularly some Microsoft employees were saying otherwise - that one will have to buy Windows Mobile 6 to get Windows Live for Windows Mobile... but of course something could change in meantime.

Regarding "microsofot-paid" - don't worry, Microsoft is not paying ANYTHING to msmobiles.com . Zero, comma zero!

Well, I just hope WL is released for WM5... Like I said, it would be quite abrupt to "forget" about WM5 and WL when we had a beta working...

And above all, I just bought my WM5 PPC 3 months ago...

P.S. I apologize if I sounded too harsh, but it was surprising to see the posibility of WL not releasing to Wm5... Rolling Eyes

as I said the unofficial new versions of Windows Live for Windows Mobile are on various mirrors in Internet NOW and the question is only about whether official one will be released.

BTW: no need to apologize for anything! Thank YOU, Sir, for using Windows Mobile !

I've seen some of this "unofficial" releases of WL too... not gonna say where, but I've seen them.

Wow... I'm finally getting it, we just don't know if WL will be released for WM5. Because:

1.- The beta for WL on WM5 already expired... so officialy we can't use it any longer.

2.- Now that I think about it, one of the "unofficial" version of WL was "taken" from a WM6 device, so it has officialy nothing to do on a WM5 device.

3.- And finally, Microsoft remaining silent about WL for WM5

I repeat... I hope it's released for WM5

There's a bit of inaccurate information here. Like saying the beta has expired for WM5. That's only partially true. The previous version of the beta has expired, but a new version was introduced this last week that installed and works fine on my WM5 T-Mobile Dash. Isn't it pretty much the norm for beta versions to expire at some point?

Would be odd to have all beta testing done on WM5, but then not make it available on that platform. Very unlikely.

I think what is more likely to happen is that it'll be available for purchase, not free -- just speculation though.
