It is -4.13% year-on-year but since competition is launching at the end of this month a major technological breakthrough, one can expect that sales of HTC could fall even further...
HTC must roll-out HTC Kaiser ...

| Maybe is not only matter of new models and features, is matter of price. e.g. Cingular-Blackjack or Sprint-MotoQ... 3G smartphones for less than $80. w/ contract. |

Jan-May 2007 sales was better than 2006. You are now talking about ONE month and making predictions based on that.
Why do you think multi-touch is so important? Because iPhone has it? I don't know any Nokia phone supporting it now or in the future and still Nokia is the clear market leader.
Motorola and Samsung have now better WM phones than before so it may be possible that HTC sales may be affected, but we have to see at least one quarter, preferably to the end of the year.

yes! Remember that USA is the only market where Windows Mobile is market leader while in all other markets Windows Mobile is just tiny percent of smartphone market. So if iPhone will take away USA from HTC it certainly will have big impact on HTC, don't you think? |

HI all
HTC Kaiser is needed but i know it will come out around august, not too long. I was reading up on the MSM7200 chipset it has and it has a graphics chip which beats the N95, interesting.
I feel its about time HTC start getting hit in the pocket, now they will hopefully listen to big sites like MSmobiles and improve their devices more for single use. |

"It is -4.13% year-on-year but since competition is launching at the end of this month a major technological breakthrough, one can expect that sales of HTC could fall even further"
So what?! Technological breakthrough? You mean the Toshiba high resolution display? Nice but only to the real innovators among us. Are you also talking about UMPC devices? The iPhone which still has to prove itself?
Please state clearly which technological breakthroughs you are expecting, cause I probably missed out on a couple of them.
Belevieve me: HTC's sales won't fall even further
You make it look like they already fell deep by using the term "further". Yet they have a 1.85% growth for the first quarter of the year.
"HTC must roll-out HTC Kaiser faster and has to start offering HTC TouchFLO technology in more models... and the only way to match competition is to offer multi-touch - there is no way around it."
Even more nonsense! I won't go into any detail on this.
@MSMOBILES.COM: please keep your work at reviewing mobile devices and spotting new phones which are coming to the market. You're good at that! |

The problem is HTC releases so many different models, I would imagine they don't make much profit on them either due to the cost of developing the firmware etc...
Too many of them are similar, so much so that I can't see the difference in some of the models other than the casing.
Nokia releases many low end models, but these are 50% of their business.
HTC isn't in the dumbphone market, so what they produce is more critical.
They should look at Toshiba and Samsung, two massive companies that produce only 3 or 4 models, but each with clear technological advantages over HTC (mostly). |

|

iPod sells because of a few reasons. One of which is the wide range of accessories that are available for iPod. And virutally none for any other mp3 players out there.
iPhone is a formidable competitor as it is from Apple and I believe over time there would be many accessories to support the iPhone.
HTC had better be prepared for that. You can have better phones and I am sure HTC Kaiser is the king for now. But having a better phone is not enough.
BTW, forget the so called Multi-Touch or TouchFlo. They are eye-candy only. |

How do you know that iPhone will sell so well and fulfill the needs of every Windows Mobile user? One phone for different Pocket PC and Smartphone users? Come on! Apple sales people have succeeded well with you in selling their ideas.
There are, however, some fact about iPhone, which cannot be overcome with a cute UI and white covers. iPhone is big (even though it's slim) and it does not have a keyboard or a keypad. Software keyboard really is not the same or why do you think most people buy qwerty phones? How many phones with no keyboard the US operators are even selling? Why BlackBerry is so popular? Who would write hundreds and thousands emails with a stylus or with a finger tip?

HTC should seriously start considering innovative input solutions instead of relying on their existing T9...I came across this superior language based smart solution called Adaptxt by KeyPoint Technologies www.adaptxt.com
I have downloaded this from Handango on my HTC Tytn and it does wonders to writing emails and giving meaningful suggestions.
This would be a killer application on their touch flow device and also on UMPC devices.
HTC needs to look towards innovative technologies for their upcoming product line. |
