HTC itself has not published it in electronic form, so here it comes from us!

The HTC Touch English manual has been online at http://www.dopod.hk since 21 June. You have to be a Club member to download it.

I have a copy (210 pages PDF file).

That is not what you said. This is what you said:

ah, OK, but I meant "published publicly".

anyway you have full user manual in PDF form and not "quick start". If people think about buying this phone having insight into such manual would be useful - without the need to register to some club (that may require actually having the phone).

I agree. Having a full manual is a good way of evaluating a device as to its suitability for personal use. This is especially the case for newer devices, where public facts and opinions of real-world use are not yet commonly found.

To be honest I wouldn't get any phone like this until Microsoft reworks the OS to be operated with fingers. You can only write plugins and hacks for so much of the OS. There will always be parts where you need to get a stylus out.

Yes, this is true, like signing QB Estimates and drawing onsite sketches. To that, though, it would always require a stylus from any device to be effective. There are plenty of worthy uses for a stylus and I agree with HTC's rep who states that the touch and stylus technologies are NOT mutualy exclusive technologies. Apple does not get that because they assume that most people don't get that and these people are their target market. I say, let em be treated as intellectually lazy as Apple wants to treat them. I'll stick with productivity and performance. Smile

Bingo, you win a cee-gar. All that touch flow stuff is just "fluff" unless it helps the entire WM experience. How come HTC didn't provide a unique "touch" gesture to display running task lists or even to quickly close applications without having to reach over to the extreme right and touch the little "x"? Since the Touch has no physical keyboard, text entry is reliant on a small virtual keyboard that's been offered with WM since it was known as Pocket PC.

Are you serious? Surprised How do you expect to use the iPhone keyboard or take two fingers to pinch down or pinch out for respective zooming on the iPhone, if you are claiming you cannot even handle touching the "x" button on the HTC Touch to close an application?

Really, JN, talk about streching it. Rolling Eyes

This should clear it up for all the Apple wanna be fanboys (as some of these WM naysayers have not even traded their own devices in for the current iPhone.) and actual fanboys alike:

With the HTC Touch, as with ALL WM devices, you can use 3rd party keyboard software (E.g. SPB Full Screen Keyboard, InterKey for multi-language input, etc...) to make up for where the native software lacks. With WM devices you can customize your own WM experience to your personal liking as opposed to having your personal experience with a device shoved in a cookie cutter mass production mold so that you can be like the rest of the sheople, only able to change colors and themes. Do you know what software can be used to make up for the lack in effectiveness of the iPhone on-screen keyboard (which numerous people have clearly stated as being an issue. One thing I know it does not do is work in landscape mode.)? NONE, NADA, ZIP, ZILCHE.

Need I say more? Is it really that difficult to see that this version of the iPhone would not be worth the current total cost of ownership, even if it was platinum plated with diamond stud insets???? Laughing

There's your Bingo and Cee-gar, all in one.
