It is a pity that according to HTC a fully featured phone with high-resolution (VGA) display must be oversized - supposedly to provide bigger, more comfortable to read, display...

they just have no clues what people want! if i want something that wont fit in my pocket, i'll get a UMPC! wait, i do have a sony 4.5" umpc! haha
what is wrong with making pdaPhone with 3.5" VGA screen??
i love the iphone 3.5" VGA! but i returned the iphone to apple, i just cant stand the dialup EDGE speed! |

| Hmm. Maybe the device size has something to do with the fact that they don't position this device as a phone! It is billed as a "Mobile Office", not a phone. If you want to type a lot during the day, and do so while looking at a larger screen, then you don't want to be using an iPhone or even something like a Q or Dash. If want a high-resolution screen on something that will fit in your pocket, then try the Toshiba or the iPhone (but you'll lose a lot of capabilities in the process). |

Just thought that I will let you know, that X7501 has no front facing camera unfortunately. The picture of the device that you have provided is likely of X7500 ( with front facing camera). _________________ Securing the future of communication. www.securegsm.com |

I don't agree that they don't know want people want, i've been wanting a simple device with a VGA screen, phone, GPS, SD card and keyboard for a long time. (Unfortunateley the x7501 does not have SD but only miniSD but otherwise this is excatly the kind of device I am looking for.)
I'm still holding on to my Blueangel since it came out 3 years ago since I haven't found anything better to replace it with. A lot of the devices that have come out in the last 2-3 years have mostly been smaller phones and PDAs with small screens.
the sharp w-zero was an exception and so was the sharp em-one. but i don't believe they existed outside of japan.
i didn't like the Universal, because the screen was not big enough even though the device was big. There was "wasted space" around the screen. I think, the HTC Omni and the i-mate ultimate suffer the similar problem but at a lesser degree.
The htc X7501 is slightly bigger than the universal, but the screen really fills the device.
in my case i want a bigger screen for:
-gaming
-GPS navigation while driving
-picture viewing
-movie watching
-web
-remote desktop
I believe the X7501 will be perfect for those kind of things
this will replace my phone + my ipod + my nintendo ds (if i had one) + my GPS (if I had one).
So still less space in my pocket.
by the way, the iPhone only has half VGA screen (320x480). 2"x3" (3.5" diagonal) screen at 160dpi
the htc X7501 has a VGA (640x480) 4"x3" (5"diagonal) screen at 160dpi.
my blueangel is quarter VGA (320x240) (2.1"x2.8") 3.5" diagonal which is about 115dpi |

Always delicious to see absolute certainty that one's views must be universal.
