Today, this very day, in history of mobile phone industry will be called "a G-Day" because it is today when Google has announced a mobile phone platform "Android" formerly known (in rumor phase) as "Google Phon...

Stop being narrowminded!

They are all business companies, no one betrayed anyone.
You say that HTC made their money thanks to Microsoft, but without HTC, Microsoft wouldn't have fared so well with WM/CE either!

well, this comparison is not symmetric: HTC has turnover in several billions of USD a year while Microsoft's Windows Mobile division has turnover only of tens of millions... so it is something like several hundred times more money that HTC is earning from the cooperation with Microsoft... and HTC is not the only Windows Mobile manufacturer anyway.

You have no idea how much money MS made thanks to HTC. And money isn't everything MS earned with the venture with HTC.

You show once again you don't know well the business to which you are a fan of.

As usual, the people who post to the main page are trying to stir up controversy over NOTHING. Microsoft sells their Windows Mobile operating system to anyone who wishes to embed it within their device. HTC is just trying to expand their sales of handsets (to the other poster: Yes - HTC has made Treos in the past - the ones that run the Palm OS).

Crazy msmobiles jerks want to make a big deal out of NOTHING.

I think it IS a big deal.

Lets be honest here, without HTC Microsoft would have stopped making WM ages ago. Nobody sells as many WM devices as HTC. Every major operator in the world sells an HTC device (or several).

People are not THAT loyal to Microsoft (just look at the success of the iPhone). People want a phone that works. They want apps and it has to have cool features.

HTC is in the position to make, what could possibly be the best smartphone to date. And MS isn't involved. I love my HTC device, but I'd just as easily switch to a Google powered device if it does what I need. Not because of the OS, but because HTC makes phones that I like. I like the form factor, I like the features.

I am pretty sure HTC do not get Windows Mobile free of charge and have every right to look at other operating systems. Windows mobile in many ways I feel has been neglected by Microsoft and maybe this is the kick up the arse Microsoft needs just as Firefox did. The blinkered view of Windows mobile often displayed on this site does nothing but keep windows mobile in a stagnant state while we should be questioning and pushing development.

Sometimes I hate this WINDOWS! ...not possibly because this products not functioned, but because the company plays market power ...and WITHONE reason!

On the other side the teamwork between "BIG" and "LITTLE" brother is so good that I don't wanna miss it, ....this windows operation systems!

....and if HTC hadn't equipped their gadgets with the developing microsoft operation systems, I hadn't spend the over 2500 Euro for their different tools in the past!

Ich fürchte, ...sorry... I fear, ...withone WM the bright light tail of HTC goes down !! ....and than.....?

...and than let us dedicate the great coming up Windows gadgets of LG , ...like the KS20 ...or SAMSUNG!

Sorry but a phone with a Linux OS running Java applications is never going to be the best smartphone to date, no matter who manufactures the hardware. I wouldn't get hyped about it, its going to stink like a Blackberry does.

I don't think ANYONE is in the position to judge this till they have seen one.

The iPhone is based on Unix (OSX) and it runs just fine.

And despite you claiming the Blackberry "stinks", they still sell like hotcakes.

I'm skeptical about a Linux/Java phone, but if anyone can make it work, it's this new alliance.

HTC is seeing someone else behind Microsoft back!

And after such a lovely engagement!

The betrayl....I hope no one tells Microsoft as when it finds out, it will kill HTC and break up with it. I wouldn't be bothered but they have had many, many children together.
