Did your source actually say improved graphic drivers or just an update with improvements to the HTC shipped software that performs slightly better? As far as I am aware there are issues with licensing the drivers for hardware graphics chip. Even then when is it coming? It was promised in a month ago.
Sorry the screen rotation thing you have thrown up is a red herring. The lag on the Kaiser and screen response is very poor. The video playback and camera are so poor HTC have even abandoned the idea of the device being designed for multimedia. I wish they put that on the adverts though.
As for not asking HTC the question at the event I am not surprised not one website did so. Not wanting to spoil their party or the no comment answers are pretty weak. HTC not only misled consumers on the issue, they completely ignored those having problems with a device that where clearly their fault. I find it glaring that no website which also misled the consumer in reviews with no objectivity whatsoever asked the questions over 13,000 people wanted asked.
Then we listen to the nonsense and marketing spin from HTC from apparent cool guy Horace Luke such as holistic. This is the same nonsense spin from HTC and these websites that came with the Kaiser. We know the lag in the HTC diamond clearly shown in the videos will not be fixed for release in June. The poor refresh on the apparently funky clock, the lag between gesture and scrolling just through the picture album is glaring. Never mind HTC may provide a graphics update in a years time if you didn't purchase a phone through an operator. |

this event was about NEW PRODUCT and not about issues with old products - it went without saying that only questions pertinent to the new product - HTC Touch Diamond are expected.
Regarding my source: I know that this new ROM update will address graphic performance and that it will be only for HTC TyTN II and only for HTC version, not operator-branded versions. I don't know more.
Once again please excuse me for not asking this question about drivers but I have a feeling that users of other phones than HTC TyTN II can forget about resolution of this issue... so I didn't want to spoil HTC's party. |

Agreed 100%!
HTC Duped everyone with the kaiser / touch / touch cruise / etc running the MSM7xxx. They rode the chipset hype claiming it had video acceleration and review sites mentioned NOTHING of the horrible lag that is present in all of those devices. Then, after users found out the truth, they completely denied EVERYTHING, and told us that if we want "features" like video acceleration, to go buy their next product.
Make no mistake, this was all pre-planned. They did this on purpose.
It was a business decision to maximize profit while hurting their customers. I pissed away $850 on the touch cruise and I was so dissapointed with this whole thing that I vowed to never purchase another HTC device -- and I am sticking with it.
As for the diamond...it *looks* great..(keyword being LOOKS).
But how do any of us know it's not going to be the kaiser/etc all over again though? We don't! There is no trust anymore.
You know the old saying..Fool me once, shame on you; fool me again, shame on me.
And as far as this rom update goes, I don't believe it.
There were numerous sites that had statements reguarding this issue months ago and they all said it was going to be fixed by april -- and it wasn't.
</rant>
ANYWAYS...questions:
Why should HTC provide anyone with something that the PURPOSELY left out? And also, what of the lisencing agreements? Why would they only release an update just for the unbranded kaiser and not for anything else with similar chipsets and poor performance? And why would they spend the time and money that it takes to do this for their OLD product line instead of focusing on their newer line?
From all of these standpoints, the decision to release this just doesn't make sense...but in closing, I DO hope they prove me (and everyone else at htcclassaction.org) wrong...If they do release a .cab with a driver chances are it will be able to be ported to at least the cruise since they're basically the same on the inside. |

proof that hardware graphics accelleration works in HTC Touch Diamond : I was trying HTC TouchFLO 3D on a VGA phone with 500 MHz processor with emulation of hardware in software (special DLL) and it was very slow. In HTC Touch Diamond the HTC TouchFLO 3D runs very fast. |

Well, that's somewhat reassuring..
I hope the final product will be the same.
However, I remember the case with the HTC Sedna.
A reviewer site got ahold of a demo model and reported that video acceleration was present in the model they had...they posted screen shots of SPB Benchmark and compared it to the Kaiser, etc..
The Sedna's video benchmark score was off the chart!
But then when consumers purchased the production models they quickly found out that they in fact did not have the drivers and got no where near those results when running the benchmark tests.
Now, whether or not the demo model actually had the acceleration though, is still up in the air. It could have been an error of the reviewer...but going by my own judgement, I don't think this was the case..
I really hope that HTC will come through for us with the fix(es) and the newer models. Only time will tell. However, as stated previously, I am very skeptical. |

You see this is where again I have a problem. On the videos I have seen there is clearly a lag on the Manila interface. Lets face it all this is is a Manilla front end running on WM 6.1. I don't buy the prerelease version anymore as I heard that before and its due for release in June, considering it has taken months to update the Kaiser ROM its unlikely this will be updated in a month.
I am not the only one to notice this,

From a video demonstration by MoDaCo it appears that the technology suffers from some common drawbacks to Windows Mobile's own interface and system. Occasionally freezing and not always responding to screen taps correctly. |

| boygeniusreport.com also claimed of delays when using the Touch Diamond. Drivers probably aren't in it... |

After watching the vid myself, I am very confused.
It looks like they spent alot of time and work developing it...
At first I was like, wow, this is going to be awesome!
However, as the video played on, there were the familiar things we as HTC users have come to expect: lag, screen taps not registering, and things not working how they should.
Just ONCE i'd like to see HTC release something that has a minimal amount of serious issues -- Why don't they just take their time and work at solving all of those problems instead releasing all of these products one after the other, and throwing partys that celebrate mediocrity?
It's mind boggling to see them time and time again release devices that are just laggy messes. I just don't know what to think. Maybe it's Microsoft? Is windows mobile THAT poorly designed that this is the best that can be done?
All i can say is that the iphone v2 is going to blow away anything that HTC has to offer...all of their devices to date are stricken with major problems that they seem to, for the most part, ignore all together.
Maybe some day I will be able to use an HTC phone that doesn't lag / blink while scrolling thru the list of programs (lol). As you can see from the video, it's def. not doing to be the diamond. |

Well, "this week" has come and gone.
Still, the month isn't over.
But HTC has flipped us the bird so often now, I'm wary of being hopeful. |

Oh yes it will be here by april, oh yes, it will be here next week! |
