| Please name any recent HTC made t-mobile branded phone that wasn't locked to t-mobile? Factual basis or just something you thought? All my recent UK t-mobile devices are all locked. |

What I mean is not that T-Mobile is not SIM-locking HTC phones but that one can get them unlocked easily if one is ready to pay small fee to T-Mobile. Some other operators don't give you this possibility. |

All operators in the UK are required to unlock handsets if certain conditions are met (typically, you've met the minimum period on your contract). Some EU countries have even stricter requirements, and as a result there's unlocked iPhones available - albeit for absurd prices. |

Yeah from my experience all contract phones are now locked and you can get an unlock code if your contract term has expired or you buy out the rest of your contract, even then they charge you around £ 20.00 for the unlock code and take ages and loads of calls to CS to get it as its not a priority for them to do it.
Yes you can buy unlocked phones but at the quoted price of around £450.00 for the Diamond its a bit steep wouldn't you say!!!! _________________ Chris

But the original article implied you could buy a t-mobile device and use it on another network easily out the box - as if this was the normal action. It's not. Even if they unlock it for you the odds are you still have the minimum term of the contract to pay for, either monthly or in a lump sum on a pro-forma invoice.
"T-Mobile by now has been usually lax about selling unlocked phones,"
They are not sold unlocked - they unlock them for you if you ask, pay, and are a customer in good standing. That's not really lax, is it?
o2 /voda HTC devices on the other hand are usually sold UNlocked - that's 'lax' ... t-mobile and orange have traditionally been very tight on selling providor locked handsets.
Are you maybe just confused? Or misinformed? Or do you just make stuff up?..... |

| Have to say I agree... When I first discovered msmobiles a while back I thought it was quite an impartial, reasoned and rational site, quite refreshing really. Recently it seems to have gone downhill - idle speculation, bizarre comments and biased opinions from the owners that seem to show irrational grudges and an uninformed perspective. I hope the site can recover from this, as I think it is probably losing a lot of respect. |
