Just wait until the Orange one comes out in July and it will be half Expansys' price on ebay.

Expansys is doing something that is annoying HTC

I think it’s more like “HTC is annoying customers” first they release an inferior product the HTC Diamond, then they delay its release date in the UK/Europe to further put-off any potential customers.

eXpansys on the other hand are going above and beyond to deliver the latest products to customers, something HTC should be doing!! Furthermore eXpansys clearly state on the Diamond page that “The units are WWE and have full manufacturers warranty, eXpansys will handle any warranty repairs on your behalf as eXpansys would with any other HTC device”

So kudos to eXpansys and thumbs down to HTC/MsMobiles very obvious sketchy partnership in the Diamond debacle.

I gotta admit, if I could order a Sprint compatible diamond from expansys I wouldn't care what HTC thought about it. Wink

I think they are upgrading the roms, they cannot afford to release another below par product and they rushed this out to beat the iPhone 3G. If they take a bit more time and deliver the Diamond thats delivers what it is supposed to deliver without any lagginess then this device is a winner for me which is why i believe it is now being delayed.

Even though I don’t personally like the HTC Diamond (just doesn’t live up to my needed specs) I sure hope HTC is delaying the release due to the ROM update, as there needs to be more fast window mobile showcases on the market.

However, sure like the fact that Apples now in the mobile game, the iPhone has sure accelerated the market and got most companies on their toes and finally listening to what customers have always been asking for.

nb. if come this Monday the iPhone 3G hits the sweet spot with price, HTC and others may have tough times ahead.

I would suggest buying the local version as the GPS maps would be local then.

Don't really care about support from HTC though. I have my JASJAM for almost 2 years now and have never need any support from either HTC (the ODM), i-mate (the supplier)or Telstra (the operator). The phone is rock solid.

Well from what I hear Vodafone have rejected their HTC Diamond stock due to quality control issues.

I have also spotted a post on another forum claiming something similar. Though they claim it was HTC who delayed the shipment not a vodafone rejection. Regardless the delay looks like a quality control issue. Maybe HTC have seen the pretty many negative responses due to lag on the diamond videos and are trying to fix. Though I doubt they have enough time to do that considering how long the Kaiser ROM update took. I am off to WWDC 2008 next week and will hopefully see the new iphone as we are now branching into supporting the iphone as well as windows mobile, symbian and blackberry. Hopefully I can get the company to stump up for one and get a diamond to do a performance and general useability comparison.

I hope it would arrive Australia soon so that I can see for myself if any of these negative rumors have any susbstance. It is easy for fanboys to spread rumors, positive or negative, these days at public forums as there are no accountability.

Take it from someone who actually had the chance to use one, it IS as bad as the "rumors" say. If you don't believe me, go check out the video at Mobility Today, as I was able to meet-up with David Ciccone and had the chance to see it in person.

JNGold, can you ask your friend David to confirm if the Phone includes Flash Lite re-installed? And if yes, is it version 2 or version 3? And does the Flash Lite also installed as a plug-in for the browser, like PIE or Opera? A test of the full You Tube site will tell as flv is only supported in Flash Lite 3 and be able to view within a browser means the Flash Lite is available as a browser plug-in.

Thanks.

Engadget.com has the following video review of the Touch Diamond and it commented that the UI was smooth as the baby bottom. I have to say it certainly looks smooth to me. Check this out:

Though they made similar claims in regards tothe HTC Tytn II.

"the device is said to be really snappy with Windows Mobile 6 and a 400MHz Qualcomm MSM7200 core, picture quality from the camera is superb, and voice quality is apparently top notch."

As for the video, look at.

According to Edward (in podcast 230) he does not yet have Diamond.

This is true, however it was available at the HTC london event and if Edward did not get his hands on it he was the only person attending who didn't. I have heard from a few sources that it has lag, I have seen a few of the videos though most of those maintaining the windows mobile forums who have seen the device first hand have yet to comment. Maybe they do not want to ruin there chances of getting a free device. I would challenge any windows mobile site mainly this one to get a 3g iphone and a diamond giving a fair comparison on them both.
