Has any one else been watching the value for symbol AAPL?

http://www.marketwatch.com/quotes/aapl

It dropped a bit today (4.12% to 178USD down from 185USD). I expected it to go up with this announcement. Perhaps it will recover soon.

short term fluctutions are irrelevant unless you are shorting your stock... but anyway: lack of 3G video calling is dissapointing and so is not increasing resolution of the iPhone.

Not very fair to compare every WinMo phone on the market to a single iPhone 3G device, we all know WinMo has loads of functionality, sadly not all of those features are in one device and especially not in a sleek form factor, which I truly hope they fix in the near future.

The one thing the keynote really brought home, is just how much Microsoft has brought to the table feature-wise in the iPhone 3G: The entirety of MobileMe, email, calendar, contact sync and wireless wipe are all built-on/rely on Microsoft Exchange, the same technology we have long been accustomed to on WinMo devices.. Seems MS is primarily focused on licensing their core technologies, rather than improving their own mobile platform.. “If you cant beat them, licence to them” comes to mind!

Nb. Wireless sync with other devices: try out mail2web's free basic service, has worked for me for the last year or so (http://live.mail2web.com/) and is better than paying for MobileMe, would even work on the iPhone.

Thank you Edward for the comparison post, it is very helpful. If one listens to only Steve Jobs, you would believe that mobile phones were invented and perfected by Apple.

not true: the 199 USD price for 3G iPhone is a lie: it is a price netto, i.e. not full, the full price is 199 USD + 24 months of subscription fee.

Very true! Windows Mobile now has a huge opportunity to surpass the iPhone on features and functionality, we all know its capable it just needs to come together in a sleek powerful devices that doesn’t lag or slow down. Also MS needs to move fast in delivering and releasing WM7 and certainly before Apple releases the next iPhone 3G-II.

Neither does the latest and greatest WinMo HTC device (HTC Diamond) and we all know what a fiasco that turned out to be.. HTC needs to up their game as well, they can certainly beet Apple on features if they put their minds to it and stop releasing mickey-mouse products.

Why does the comparison say iphone 3G speed is 3.6 Mbps? Check this post about the chip used in the 3G iphone.
http://www.ziphone.org/2008/06/72-megabits.html

And about the price, why would you say $199 plus 24 months of subscription fees? Do you not need to pay the monthly subscription fees to use a WinMo phone? Where can I get in on that deal. It would be ridiculous to compare $199 + 24 monthly subscriptions fees to the cost of a $600-700 WinMo phone and assume $0 for subscription fees. It is more reasonable to assume similar plan and data packages (to get equivalent use).

Edward,

I dont think the 199.00 price requires a new two year contract.

Precisely my point!! I guess you didn’t get the irony in the reply.. Basically HTC has screwed up in not offering a microSd slot in the latest release device similar to the iPhone. The comparison is correct in stating WinMo has loads of great features, but the fact of the matter is that HTC and a lot of WinMo device makers can’t seem to bring them into one product and continue to release crap as the HTC Diamond..

I really so hope they change and the Sony X1 is good, but for me its far too bulky, and theirs just no WinMo device on the market that ticks all my boxes and i really hope that changes.
