Some grumpy American bloggers, who have purchased unofficially-imported HTC Touch Diamond phones from Hong Kong were complaining that these phones do not have American bands (of course! they were designed for Asia! ...

I will reserve judgement on this until we actually see it for real, seeing a build no in a screenshot does not mean the problems have been fixed, have you got yours yet? _________________ Chris

Mobility Today Podcast 113 had some interesting opposing comments on this about 8 minutes 30 seconds into the podcast about the ROM version on the Diamond and some other HTC device. _________________ MCAD .Net , MCTS (Web, Windows) |

I believe some of the areas it was tested in had supported bands. West Coast of America. Still leaves questions of why the dropped signals. An unlocked phone, with supported bands should be usable worldwide, but you should know that.
Microsoft really needs to get a handle on HTC letting their hardware and software get out so early. |

Are you really trust the competence of someone who films gadgets outside in a dirty garden on bricks?
The pre-release ROMs being slow is just a myth, the truth is ALL Windows Mobile ROMs are slow. The Windows CE architecture is slow, Windows UI message system is slow, GDI is slow. No matter if you have a 200Mhz CPU or a 720MHz CPU it is going to be SLOW, right!
Will WM7 be slow? Probably. _________________ WiFiFoFum Pocket PC Wardriving

I won't argue with you there. There are often trade-offs between performance (which is tied to optimizing for a specific hardware configuration) and adaptability (which will allow the OS to be run on more diverse hardware configurations). Looking at the different implementations of Windows C.E. it's obvious which was more important here. _________________ MCAD .Net , MCTS (Web, Windows) |
