3 most popular form factors of Windows Mobile phones are: touch-screen without any keyboard (examples: HTC Touch Diamond, Samsung Omnia), touch-screen with slide-out QWERTY keyboard on the side (not for single-hande...

Of course, size does matter when it comes to displays, so the 3.2" screen of the Omnia earns a different kind of pat on the back. If only the Diamond had a similar-sized display, it would've made much more of that VGA resolution.

I don't see the trend in using 2.8" VGA displays, there is only so much the eye can see (I’m over 30 year old which probably makes it worse). I use my Xda Exec to watch videos, the screen is 3.6" which is fantastic but makes the device slightly too large, so Omnia’s 3.2” screen is the next best size. 2.8” screens should be for QVGA only!

One more thing, Diamond reviews never mention the speed to copy a >250MB file (average file size for a TV series) to the Diamond since it cannot accept external storage. If it is like other WM 6.1 devices then it will take forever. An external storage card is a must for moving videos to watch on a device! Diamond fails miserably here.

I didn't see mention of a file size at all, but they did indicate the bandwidth that they got. Sounds like you are more interested in the speed of the write operation. The diamond was rated at 2mb/second and the samsung was rated at 3.9 mb/second. Assuming that their findings are both typical and linear the estimated time needed to copy would be as follows.

(250mb) / (2mb/second) = 125 seconds
(250mb) / (3.9mb/second) = 64 seconds

Depending on the software you may be able to get the problem easily resolved. When the G900 was released some windows mobile software did not expect a WiMo device with a WVGA display (800x480). SPB quickly released an updated version to support the G900 display after receiving some complaints. Depending on the type of problem that you are having you may be able to get the maker of the third party software to release an update.

What type of problem were you having?
