Apart from Samsung i900 (Omnia) and Samsung i780, Samsung is releasing also other phones by Windows Mobile! Although Samsung also licenses Symbian from Nokia, indeed most smartphones from Samsung are powered by Wind...

Actually, from what I've seen on my travels, Samsung makes as many S60 smartphones as it does WinMo phones. The only difference is that their S60 phones are targeted at Asia.
s60.com lists 9 Samsung phones. How many WinMo phones has Samsung released? |

Why don't you give the Samsung i900 Omnia as much coverage as the diamond. I have heard you mention the resolution difference however the Omnias Touchwiz UI or Sweep UI kicks Touchflo 3D into touch. Its not only responsive but usefull and intuitive. The screen is much larger even though it has a lower resolution and it perform just as poorly as the diamond in direct sunlight is much better for example when using GPS software. The 5mp camera in the Omnia is vastly superior, with face and even smile detection plus an led flash. It has 8gb or 16gb internal memory plus a micro sd slot. It does not have an accelerometer instead using the camera. I do not know how Samsung did this but unlike the diamond all applications rotate. It not only has DLNA support but a TV out. Whats more it can go one full day without charge. Also it has an onboard FM Radio with RDS.
This device is better than the diamond in all ways bar the VGA screen, which is so small on the diamond its under used. The most important difference however is the difference in response.
This is a real alternative to those people stung by the Kasier and the awful disregard towards customers from HTC in regards to graphics drivers, who do not wish to buy into that brand but remain loyal to Windows mobile. |

My guess is that their cashing-in or sucking up to HTC as theirs hardly a week that goes by without msmobiles talking up the HTC Diamond.. Which as yourself many users have picked up on and is sadly a hit to msmobiles quality and integrity. |

I think the HTC Diamond has gotten more coverage in general. I tried using Google to see the count of results for the search phrases HTC Diamond and Samsung Omnia produce from certain mobile sites. I know this method is far less than scientific but I do think it shows a trend. Clicking on any of the following links will show you my search query. Of course these numbers will change with time since these sites and the Google search indexes are subject to change.
I did a search against MobilityToday.com for Samsung Omnia and got back 14 results. If I do the same search for HTC Diamond I get back 381 results. (96% Diamond )
On MobileTechAddicts.com Samsung Omnia comes up in 38 results while the HTC Diamond comes up in 150. (80% Diamond along with a Diamond banner on the front page)
On MSMobiles.com the Samsung Omnia gets 28 results and the HTC Diamond gets 93 results. (77% Diamond)
On YouTube searching for Samsung Omnia produced 93 results and HTC Diamond produced 555 results. (86% Diamond)
On the T4 Show Searching for Samsung Omnia produced 0 results and HTC Diamond produced 4 results (100% Diamond).
On Microsoft.com (which will include the forums) searching on Samsung Omnia produced 19 and HTC Diamond produces 340 results (95% Diamond)
If I exclude the MS Mobiles site that sums up to 164 Omnia references against 1430 Diamond references. That's 90% Diamond.
There's probably search phrases that could produce more complete results (ex: including i900 or "Touch Pro" in the search phrases) and I understand that some of the YouTube results would include Edward's videos and possibly videos from these other sites. But from these initial searches I get the impression the Diamond is grabbing more attention than the Omnia in general. Edwards balance seems to be consistent with these other sites. I would expect a better balance will be achieved once more people get their hands on an Omnia. The imbalance is just an artifact of availability of the two units and the different marketting effort for the two products. _________________ MCAD .Net , MCTS (Web, Windows) |
