| I don't see any references to Zune Phone here. IMHO, what he is trying to say is, that MS will pay more attention to end user experience and push hardware manufacturers to produce devices that are up to the task, not underpowered, user friendly, etc.. Hopefully, MS will pull it off. Because for now it looks like Carriers and OEMs are the ones who have the last word, and that is why market flooded with garbage, third grade devices, it is impossible to find one, that "has it all", and there's always a compromise, nice screen, slow processor, low memory - good spec's, lousy screen, etc. hopefully MS will do something that will force OEMs to produce GOOD devices, that can provide GOOD user experience, not just sell P.O.S. wrapped as a candy. (I hope HTC will read this) |

I don’t think Balmer says anything about the Zune nor would I care. I would agree that the Zune device should have never existed and MS should have focused their time and development into WinMo instead (but that’s a personal opinion) and WinMo isn’t a sub-par user experience because it dosen’t include Zune, it’s a sub-par experience because the hardware/software aren’t up to the speed or smoothness of other devices.
I hope what this announcements really means is that MS will now set a minimum-bar for hardware or performance across all its devices regardless of manufacturer, either through certification or to name and shame to ensure that every WinMo7 device that ships has a very responsive feel..
I would certainly like every WinMo7 device to incorporate an NVIDIA APX 2500 CPU/GPU if they can keep the size acceptable..

... what in other words confirms that Microsoft will either release their own Zune phone (with music service built-in) or Microsoft will put Zune's marketplace for music inside of Windows Mobile. | Where did you get Zune from in that? Microsoft is referring to their (to date) terrible web browsing experience, utterly mediocre email software, and otherwise kludgey operating system oddities. _________________ good titles are misleading!

While balmer's statements support the low confidence theory of a Zune enabled phone it is far from confirmation. It also seems that a Zune phone would be more of a branding effort since the Zune DRM is a modified version of the Windows Media DRM. _________________ MCAD .Net , MCTS (Web, Windows) |
