|

HTC Touch Diamond is probably the best smartphone in the world - considering its tiny size and features and now with latest ROM upgrade it is practically perfect...

Sure would be nice if they'd come out with the WM 6.1 update to my Touch Cruise... geez -- enough already with the Diamond updates |

If its perfect why does it have a screen you cannot see in direct sunlight? The device is almost impossible to use outside on a normal to bright day.
The camera not only has a lower resulution but has a poorer lense than the omnia. I only need normal sized photos so resolution of 3mp is good enough. But compared to the Carl Zeiss lense on the N95 released in January 2007 its poor. The omnias battery life is at least double that of the diamond. The diamond cannot go one full day in normal usage without needing a charge. How could anybody find this usable or acceptable. The diamond does not have an SD slot of any sort meaning a fixed memory size of only 4 GB. Auto screen rotation does not work in all applications. Yet more poor software implementation by HTC, where the device only reacts to gestures after they are completed. They should look at PocketCM Imageviewer which is in beta or Eyephoto.
The diamond as a device is unusable unless you carry a charger at all times which kind of defeats the purpose of having a mobile device. |

| Yeah... it is odd to state the Diamond to be 'the best in the world'. Nice yes, but the 'best'? Personally, if it doesn't take a microSDHC card, it's a bit far from at the top... |

| if it's perfect, it would have 3" wvga 800x480 instead of 2.8" vga 640x480! |

Maybe the poster should have said cutest. I have one, and the thing is just lovely. The screen is incredible, and the touchflo animations are pretty nice (especially the photo tab).
If I could fault it for one thing (beside the battery life, which is very good on GSM but atrocious on 3G) is that the Touchflo3d gestures don't seemed to be designed very well for such a small screen. It needs even more work to really make it ergonomic.

Does japanese/chinese input have to be enabled somewhere or is it available with no settings change after the firmware update?
If a setting must be changed then is it necessary to reboot for the change of input language to take affect? If I were to visit a site like http://Honda.co.jp would the text show up in japanese? _________________ MCAD .Net , MCTS (Web, Windows) |

exactly. I tried one a few times and it is a sweet little device.
besides that, needs are that different that you can not say what is "the best".
I tried a few devices lately (xda star, eten m800, ultimate 9502) and have now settled for tie i780 (and decided against the omnia).
as of now, this is the best device i have used. and i have to admit, i will not buy anything else then qwerty bar phones anymore. it is just that convenient and fast if you need it for business and messaging.

I have just got my Touch Diamond (the Australian version) a few days ago. I didn't have time to test all the features yet but I can say one thing for sure - the screen is bright and very readable under direct sunlight. I live in Melbourne Australia and the sun can be strong. I took the phone outdoor to test it and I can't believe why would anyone complaint about the screen when use outdoor.
Touch FLO seems smooth and camera is definetly better than that from JASJAM. However, I would need more time to really test it out. _________________ Proud owner of HTC Touch Diamond and i-mate JASJAM. |

What's to test? It's been so extensively reviewed at this point you could just read about your new device |
