I don't trust anyone who puts a glass touch screen face-down on concrete. _________________ WiFiFoFum Pocket PC Wardriving

you probably don't know how sturdy, how solid is the display of HTC Touch Diamond: it got no scratches from putting it there + I could drop it to the concrete floor and it would neither break nor scratch.
It is made of special glass ! |

... how can you say that no 3.5mm jack for headphones is a disadvantage? Does anybody still use plug-in headphones anymore? I gave those up 3 years ago! What's wrong with bluetooth? Have you never heard of A2DP? Come on guys... this is the 21st century. To say HTC will decline because of this omission is just plain ridiculous! |

While the bluetooth headsets are more expensive and there are fewer choices, I do aggree that it is the way to go especially if you are into the smartphone anyway. With the bluetooth headsets, you can listen to music without missing calls. _________________ Proud owner of HTC Touch Diamond and i-mate JASJAM. |

I use a bluetooth stereo headset that supports A2DP, AVRCP, and HSP but I still think that the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack is a disadvantage for my use. I frequently travel by plane and the use of transmitting devices while on the plane is prohibited. I currently use a EUSB to 3.5mm adapter so that I can use my favorite pair of earphones with the phone or to connect it to my car. A 3.5mm provides better interoperability with the things I already have. _________________ MCAD .Net , MCTS (Web, Windows) |

At one point in your review you mention that the casing is made of metal.
I always thought it was all plastic. Can you please confirm if this is really metal.
And thanks for the wonderful review and photographs.

of course not all is metal, but HTC Touch Diamond has METAL FRAME
go to
http://www.htc.com/www/product.aspx?id=46296
and click on "device tour" and point number 3 mentions "solid metal frame that surrounds diamond"
I also knocked on my unit to check and it is metal frame and in one-on-one meetings with HTC at launch even they were also underlining the solid construction - sturdy glass, metal-based construction. |

maybe you should compare the diamond with the new Samsung i900. I think samsung will win, it has some very nice specs and look.
very similar specs to diamond touch, but with sdhc, tv-out, 5mp camera, etc. |
